The New York Jets are planning to fire offensive coordinator Tony Sparano, according to an ESPN.com report on Sunday. In addition, owner Woody Johnson is considering restructuring his front office. Sources told ESPN that coach Rex Ryan is likely to keep his job and is better off having general manager Mike Tannenbaum retained. However, CBS Sports reported that Tannenbaum will likely be fired. The Jets offense is tied for 30th in the league in total yards heading into their season finale Sunday at the Buffalo Bills. Also, defensive coordinator Mike Pettine's contract is expiring and special teams coach Mike Westhoff is retiring, so there could be several coaching changes. The Jets are 34-29 under Ryan, who was hired by Tannenbaum. However, the team has missed the playoffs in each of the last two years. Perhaps the team's biggest challenge is settling their quarterback situation. Starter Mark Sanchez has struggled, backup Tim Tebow barely played after being traded for, and third stringer Greg McElroy bypassed Tebow to start Sunday's season finale. However, Sanchez regained the starting spot after McElroy was ruled out because of a concussion.
