Jets coach Rex Ryan revealed Thursday running back Bilal Powell has a fractured toe, but he expects him to play Week 15 at Tennessee (Monday). Powell was held out of practice Thursday. It sounds like Powell has an injury that might not only keep him out Week 15, but the rest of the season. However, Ryan seems to disagree and believes Powell will be available Monday. Powell has been solid lately as his splits backfield reps with Shonn Greene. Source: CBSSports Attached Thumbnails

5 Replacements for Rex Ryan, Jets

The New York Jets may be on their way to making a playoff push but don’t be fooled. This season is by far the most frustrating and most disappointing of Rex Ryan’s tenure as Head Coach. After thirteen weeks of nailbiters and fumbles, it is clear New York is in need of a coaching change (to say the least). Woody Johnson would do his team a favor by firing Ryan. A lot has changed...

Jets focusing on struggling Titans, not playoffs

Rex Ryan is taking nothing for granted, not the way this season has gone for the New York Jets. The Jets still have hope that a favorable schedule will give them a chance at the playoffs even after a 3-6 start. Ryan, though, is taking it one game at a time, beginning with the woeful Tennessee Titans on Monday night. ''I know we have three games left in the regular season...

If You Need Him You Should Put A Claim on Him on the Week 15 NFL Waiver Wire

The semifinals are here. The question is are you still here or did your team get eliminated this final week of the regular season? Whether you’re going for a title or just playing consolation rounds, let’s scrape the last bits of meat off of the waiver wire’s bones. Availability is based on ESPN leagues and FAAB off the $100 budget you’ve been nursing since September. New...

Ryan changes mind about Tebow's role

New York Jets coach Rex Ryan flip-flopped on Tim Tebow's possible role in Monday night's game against the Tennessee Titans. Ryan told reporters Friday that Tebow may serve as a personal protector on punts and might see action in the Wildcat formation on offense. Earlier in the week, Ryan said Tebow would not perform those functions. Ryan changed his mind after watching...

Jets Wildcat May Be In Play Monday As Rex Ryan Reverses Course

On Thursday, Jets coach Rex Ryan said Tim Tebow was healthy enough to be the backup quarterback, but not enough so to be the Wildcat quarterback or the team’s personal punt protector. Just 24 hours later, the coach reversed that position, saying Tebow was more mobile in practice Thursday than had been expected, Seth Walder of the New York Daily News reports. “He moved around...

The Jets need change.. even with a chance still to make the playoffs

The New York Jets need change, and they need it now.  —  Rex Ryan can talk as much as he wants about change, but it doesn’t mean jack if  his team can’t back his words up, right now the Jets are 6-7.     While Yahoo! Sports.com may report that  New York still has a chance, it’s not likely to happen, [...]

Jets Coach Rex Ryan Says He's Not The Idiot WR Braylon Edwards Talked About

Braylon Edwards last week called the Jets decision makers "idiots" for their handling of Mark Sanchez. Since then Edwards was waived the Seahawks with a hamstring injury and picked up by the Jets. Coach Rex Ryan made light of his new wide receiver's comments according to Conor Orr of the Newark Star-Ledger. "With the comment, I look at it this way, (general...

Reunited and It Feels So Good

Will Braylon Edwards make Rex Ryan and Mike Tannenbaum look like idiots or geniuses after claiming him off waivers on Tuesday afternoon?

Tebow won't run wildcat for Jets

Tim Tebow's days of running the New York Jets' wildcat-style offense appear over for now. Rex Ryan said Thursday that the backup quarterback will be active Monday night at Tennessee, but will likely not run the wildcat or participate as the punt protector on special teams. Tebow has not played in the Jets' last three games while dealing with two broken ribs, sustained...

Jets confident Braylon Edwards will play Monday

After the Seattle Seahawks released wide receiver Braylon Edwards, head coach Pete Carroll said they believed he wouldn’t be able to play for three weeks because of a hamstring injury. New York Jets head coach Rex Ryan doesn’t agree with Carroll. “Obviously, we felt different,” Ryan said, via the Newark Star Ledger. “He passed the physical, he’s cleared to practice,...

Making sense of Rex Ryan's backup quarterback quandary

Tim Tebow hasn't been healthy enough to see the field for a month, yet New York Jets coach Rex Ryan insists Tebow remains the No. 2 quarterback. Meanwhile, Greg McElroy, Gang Green's third-stringer, is the only quarterback not named Mark Sanchez to run New York's offense in a regular season game this year. The healthy and capable McElroy replaced Sanchez in the second...
