One of the main reasons the New York Jets have had such an effective defense since Rex Ryan took over the team has been the play of Darrelle Revis. The former first-round pick has established himself as arguably the best defensive player in the game over the past seven seasons, and certainly the game’s top shutdown corner. Fresh off of ACL surgery, Revis could now be used as trade bait. According to CBSSports.com, sources close to the situation say that Jets owner Woody Johnson has serious concerns about the team’s ability to sign Revis to a contract extension when his deal expires after the 2014 season. The 27-year-old is set to earn $6 million in 2013, and New York is not exactly in an ideal salary cap situation heading into next season. Johnson has reportedly made it “very clear” that he would like one of new general manager John Idzik’s first priorities to be exploring how much value the team could get in return for Revis, likely in the form of draft picks. The torn ACL Revis su...

Should the Patriots go after Darrelle Revis?

Could the Patriots make a move for Darrelle Revis? After reports that the New York Jets are open to trading super-stud cornerback Darrelle Revis surfaced Wednesday night, I began to think, “Is it fathomable to think Darrelle Revis could end up in a Patriots uniform come September?” Of course, it would be tough to see the Jets trade their best player to their hated in-division...

Report: Revis trade talk could start 'gold rush'

A report that the New York Jets might be interested in trading heralded cornerback Darrelle Revis has suitors starting to line up for a chance to land one of the NFL's best players. One general manager called the prospect "one of the biggest potential trade markets for a player ever," according to CBSSports.com. Multiple reports indicate a growing desire on the...

Report: Jets want a 1st and 2nd round pick in return for Revis

According to Mike Freeman of CBS Sports, the New York Jets are looking to get a first and second round pick in return for cornerback Darrelle Revis.  I would that is a very fair asking price if he didn’t tear his ACL this season.  But the fact that he has to come back from a serious knee injury, teams won’t be willing to give up that much to acquire Revis. We already know there...

Darrelle Revis reportedly wants to finish his career with the Jets

According to Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network, cornerback Darrelle Revis wants to finish his career with the New York Jets, even though they’re thinking about trading him. Even though Revis wants to retire a Jet, I doubt he would be willing to take a major pay cut to stay in New York. The Jets salary cap situation is so sad that they might have to trade a future hall of fame player...

Jets may trade Darrelle Revis?

The Jets reportedly are exploring the idea of trading Pro Bowl cornerback Darrelle Revis, who is recovering from a torn ACL in his knee.

Report: Jets Considering Trading Darrelle Revis

If you are a team interested in trading for Darrelle Revis, I am warning you in advance.  Just because Adrian Peterson isn’t human doesn’t mean everyone who comes back from ACL surgery gets better.  Then there is the possibility of an “Nnamdi” happening. Plus, you never know how a player will be in a new system, so teams need to do their due diligence. According to CBS...

Jets GM calls Revis to clear air

A few hours after Darrelle Revis said he was ''speechless'' about rampant trade talk, new Jets general manager John Idzik reached out to the star cornerback Thursday to ask to ''give us a chance'' to evaluate the entire roster. Idzik told NBC's Pro Football Talk on Friday that Revis ''reacted well'' to the phone call, which came...

Don’t Look For Revis In Green Bay

The Jets have reportedly placed All-Pro cornerback Darrelle Revis on the trading block The possibility of Darrell Revis joining the Packers makes for interesting reading in a slow news week, but the odds of the perennial Pro Bowl cornerback playing his home games in the state of Wisconsin next season are about the same as the odds of Jean-Claude Van Damme winning an Oscar for The...

Revis Is Worth More Than A First Round Pick

SI’s Peter King reports today that the Jets asking price for Darrelle Revis will be a first round pick, but it’s not enough to warrant getting rid of the game’s best cover corner. As long as the Revis legal team can somehow avoid a third contractual confrontation with Woody Johnson, we see no reason why new GM John Idzik should send Revis packing for the potential of some unknown...

New York Jets – A Few Comments On Revis Trade Rumors

The Internet almost exploded last night from this report from Jason La Canfora, which in a nutshell said the New York Jets would consider trading Darrelle Revis this off-season out of a fear of being unable to sign him long term. First off, the sourcing on this report likely comes from the recent GM interviews, considering candidate Ted Sundquist has leaked what Woody Johnson said...

According to one NFL general manager, the current interest in Jets CB Darrelle Revis is “one of the biggest potential trade markets for a player ever,” per Mike Freeman of CBS Sports. “There’s a Revis gold rush forming,” the GM said. Freeman reports that the Jets’ current asking price for Revis is a first- and second-round pick, but notes that they’re unlikely to...

Report: Jets will explore trade possibilities for Darrelle Revis

According to Jason La Canfora of CBS Sports, the New York Jets will explore trade opportunities for cornerback Darrelle Revis. With Revis’ contract ending in 2014, Jets owner Woody Johnson isn’t confident they’ll be able to extend his contract. The Jets have a lot of questions when it comes to their salary cap. Getting rid of Revis could help give them some relief. Need NFL...

To even attempt to fly, the Jets need to remove ‘Revis Island’ from the swamps in Jersey and deal Darrelle Revis

Much to the chagrin of embattled head coach Rex Ryan, New York Jets owner Woody Johnson and recently hired general manager John Idzik will entertain offers to deal elite cornerback Darrelle Revis this offseason. The 27-year-old Revis, who the Jets selected out of the University of Pittsburgh with the 14th overall pick in the 2007 NFL Draft, was indefinitely shelved after suffering...

Jets' GM: Revis trade talk 'premature'

New York Jets general manager John Idzik called any speculation that the team might trade star cornerback Darrelle Revis "premature." Making his introductory press conference, Idzik was asked about the CBSSports.com report that said Jets owner Woody Johnson is reluctant to give Revis a long-term deal coming off the torn ACL he suffered during the season. Revis is scheduled...

Report: Jets might trade Revis

While the New York Jets' season circled the drain, much of the focus remained on the team's quarterback situation. Mark Sanchez played poorly, and Tim Tebow almost never played. There was a big hole on the other side of the ball, though, as the star cornerback Darrelle Revis missed 14 of 16 games due to a torn anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee. That hole might...
