Even in retirement, it seems Brett Favre can still be responsible for the Jets tossing away picks… Remember how the Jets got a 7th round pick in 2010 because Brett Favre retired at the end of his first year with the team, but then there was confusion over the impact of his potential unretirement? According to the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, the Jets simply gave the pick back during the draft. Ted Thompson is quoted as saying that the Jets returned the pick in exchange for changing the language of some of the trade papers. It’s difficult to imagine what was in it for the Jets, unless they wanted to remove any ambiguity over whether the poison pill would apply on releasing Favre.
