The Jets have signed WR Mardy Gilyard, according to a person with knowledge of the situation.
The person requested anonymity because the Jets have yet to make the move official.
This is Gilyard's second stint with the Jets, having spent about a week with the team last season. He was waived by the Eagles on Tuesday.
The Jets have also released G Hayworth Hicks, who spent the minimum three weeks on the team's active roster after being claimed off the Colts' practice squad. Source: Newark Star Ledger Attached Thumbnails

Jets guard Brandon Moore said that he is bothered by being associated with the now notorious "butt fumble" play where Mark Sanchez fumbled after running into his backside.
Mark sanchez and the New York Jets Will Persist
Not this season T…maybe next year…
The New York Jets have become the biggest laughingstock in the NFL. In my opinion, Rex Ryan is the Jets biggest problem. He never shuts his mouth…and is always spouting off some bold prediction that never pans out. Check out Mark and the Jets latest motivational t-shirt. Looks like the inventor of the ass fumble still believes in the Gang...
Jets Sign WR Mardy Gilyard
The New York Jets signed WR Mardy Gilyard Tuesday evening following a workout, per Mark Garafolo.
Following injuries to Clyde Gates (concussion), Chaz Schilens (concussion) and Jeremy Kerley (heel, hamstring), the Jets added depth at wide receiver with a player who can also assume return duties if Kerley is indeed out this week.
New York needs impact receivers and the explosive Gilyard...
Turn On The Jets Stock Watch – Angry Rant Edition
It feels like I could just copy and paste parts of this column from the last few weeks and nobody would be able to tell the difference. Week after week it’s becoming the same old stuff when it comes to this Jets team. Too many turnovers, ineffective run game, blowouts, Calvin Pace sucks, Bart Scott sucks, Kyle Wilson is a delusional finger-wagger with an incredibly false sense...
Rock Bottom in New York
If a Thanksgiving blowout loss at home and basically getting eliminated from the playoffs wasn't enough, this news is certainly absolute rock bottom for the New York Jets. Ed Anzalone, famously known as "Fireman Ed" has for years lead the famous "J-E-T-S JETS JETS JETS!" chants at all home games in the Meadowlands for the Jets. However, he has lead his last...
Thinking Forward: Even Fireman Ed Still Loves Bilal Powell
I don’t blame Fireman Ed for walking away disgustipated with his Jets. It’s hard to stay upbeat and ready to support your team after such a performance. By now, we’ve all learned that Mark Sanchez is a big Sir Mix-A-Lot fan with his unholy gravitational pull towards Moore’s backside. But for fantasy purposes and for nearly as much humor we were treated to another...
Ryan says Jets' goal is to run table, finish 5-0
(Eds: APNewsNow. Will be updated. With AP Photos.) By DENNIS WASZAK Jr. AP Sports Writer Rex Ryan is making no guarantees.
But the Jets coach still believes his team has a shot at the playoffs, despite the fact New York is 4-7, coming off an embarrassing loss to New England, and hasn't won two straight games all season.
This year appears to be all but over for the Jets - except...
Fireman Ed Calls it Quits?
New York Jets fan Ed Anzalone writes in a guest column for Metro New York newspaper Sunday that he will no longer lead the “J-E-T-S!” chants at home games or wear his firefighter’s hat because “confrontations” between him and other fans “have become more common.” The former New York City firefighter, who left the Jets’ 49-19 loss to New England at halftime Thursday...
Ryan expects Tebow to be cleared for Sunday's game
New York Jets coach Rex Ryan expects Tim Tebow to be cleared to play against the Arizona Cardinals on Sunday, Ryan told reporters on Wednesday. That does not necessarily mean Tebow will play, however. "We'll see how he progresses during the week," Ryan told the New York Daily News. "He's limited right now and we'll see, but I guess the answer is &...
Fireman Ed Retires From Schtick, Not Being A Jets Fan
Former Fireman Ed, Ed Anzalone released an op-ed in the Metro late last night explaining why he decided to leave the Patriots-Jets blowout before halftime on Thanksgiving and unfortunately it was not to become a brony or Ed Mau5.
I decided to leave Thursday because the confrontations with other Jets fans have become more common, even though most Jets fans are fantastic.
This is...

The Chiefs have claimed offensive lineman Hayworth Hicks off waivers.
The 6-foot-3, 336-pound Hicks entered the league as an undrafted free agent with the Colts in April. He spent time on their practice squad before being acquired by the New York Jets on Nov. 6.
He spent three games on their roster but was inactive each week.

Fireman Ed Retires
The HQ, probably, should have taken the hint when he hung up his Twitter feed...
But one of the iconic figures in NFL fandom, the NY Jets Fireman Ed, has decided to retire from being Fireman Ed. At the end of the last nationally-televised Jets game, he had taken off his fireman's helmet and had even decided to leave before the game was officially over.
Ed Anzalone, Fireman...
Rex 'cherishes' first NFL experience with Cardinals
Regardless of what you may think of Rex Ryan as head coach of the New York Jets, the guy has a pretty impressive coaching resume. Ryan went from a graduate assistant at Eastern Kentucky in the late 1980s to one of the best defensive coaches in the game leading the mid-2000 Baltimore Ravens' defense. A few years later, he's the lead guy for New York's green team. But Ryan...
