Several times today Rex Ryan said that he wants next year's Jets offense to be "unpredictable," right now that could also extend to the statuses of quarterbacks Mark Sanchez and Tim Tebow, Mike Vorkunov of the Newark Star-Ledger reports.
Ryan and owner Woody Johnson would not speak to the future of either quarterback at their press conference, though neither one denied that there will be an open competition for who the Jets' starting quarterback will be next season.
Ryan said that the Jets first need to hire an offensive coordinator and implement his system before they want to talk about where Sanchez fits in.
"Well see what happens," Ryan said. "Lets get the general manager and the offensive coordinator in place before we answer any questions specifically about players."
Last month, the Jets were open to all possibilities with Sanchez, but that was while former general manager Mike Tannenbaum was still in place, Sanchez is guaranteed to make $8.25 million in 2013.
Today, Ryan and Johnson both said that money will not dictate their decisions.
"Obviously, the situation, the offensive coordinator, his system, all those kinds of things, there will be a lot of things that go into it but, money, the financial part of it, will not have any of the considerations for it," Ryan said. "Well play the player that fits what we do best. That we believe gives us the best chance."
Johnson added: "I concur."

Report: Jets wanted to use Tebow as a running back
When the trade was announced last Spring that would bring Tim Tebow to the New York Jets, many were left scratching their heads. Had the team lost all confidence in Mark Sanchez? Did Rex and Woody fall in love with Tebow after he led a comeback win against the stout Jets defense? Was it a ploy to sell PSLs? The answer to all those questions might actually be a resounding yes. But...
Report: Jets planned on using Tim Tebow as a running back
According to Mike Garafolo of USA Today Sports, the New York Jets planned on lining quarterback Tim Tebow up as a running back, but never got around to it.
The team had visions of lining up Tebow at running back in traditional sets when they acquired him via trade from the Denver Broncos last March, according to a person with knowledge of the team’s plans at the time of the trade...
Rex Ryan Finally Explains His Mark Sanchez Tattoo
After being photographed shirtless on a beach resort last week, Rex Ryan finally addressed the New York media and answered questions about a peculiar tattoo spotted on his right arm, one that depicts his wife wearing nothing but a Mark Sanchez jersey in a pose that looks strangely similar to “Tebowing.”
What Rex said, according to Business Insider:
It’s real.
He’s had it...
Jets reportedly planned to make Tim Tebow a running back
Tim Tebow and the New York Jets are parting ways after what developed into a disappointing season for both parties. Tebow accepted a trade to the Jets — and actually picked them over the Jacksonville Jaguars — because he believed he would have a good chance of becoming the starting quarterback there. Though Mark Sanchez’s poor play certainly merited a quarterback switch, Tebow...

Dez Bryant Gives The ‘X’ Before Going Under
Give em the ‘X’ Juan…
Dez Bryant is finally getting that pesky finger taken care of. I have already given out the trophy for Breakout WR Of The Year to Dez, so you know I think highly of him from a fantasy perspective. The fact that he played through a broken finger and went off doing so is unbelievable from a teammate perspective. He’s going to be in my top 3 for 2013...
No Huddle: New York Jets GM Must Be Bold And Prompt

New York Jets clean house, fire Sparano
The New York Jets are continuing to clean house. Today, the rebuilding management fired their offensive coordinator, Tony Sparano.
The move was not surprising considering the Jets terrible season. Since Sparano was hired, many wondered if he was right for the job. With a background as an offensive line coach and no experience with quarterbacks, this was yet another move by the...
Rob Ryan And His Econoline Van Are Out Of Dallas
It’s not every coordinator firing that KSK bothers to cover, but not every coordinator is Rob Ryan, a man who never stopped rocking, being real or doing eightballs in the first seat of his 1999 Ford Econoline conversion van. This off-season, both Ryan brothers were almost out of jobs, which would have left this a much poorer league for the sake of depravity. That might sit well...
