In this week’s edition of “Football Nation Today,” gives his take on the latest news across the NFL:1st Down: Alex tells us five things we learned from week 11, and how those things will carry over to future weeks:*There are certain teams in the league that simply do not know how to win. (Jacksonville, Cleveland and Carolina)*Andrew Luck, though he got walloped in New England, is still Alex’s favorite rookie quarterback.*The Eagles continue to further deteriorate on a weekly basis, and unfortunately, the team will have to wait until the offseason to make significant changes.*Ben Roethlisberger’s injury will have a major impact on the AFC playoff picture, as it essentially guarantees that Baltimore will be the second seed.*The Jets are mediocre because they have a mediocre roster, not because they talk a lot.2nd Down: On Monday Night Football this week, the 49ers and Bears both played their back-up quarterbacks.  The 49ers, however, allowed Colin Kaepernick to throw early, whereas the Bears instructed Jason Campbell to merely hand the ball to Matt Forte.  Not surprisingly, the 49ers dominated the Bears.  Alex says what we witnessed on Monday night is a sign that almost regardless of the quarterback, passing wins in today’s NFL.  No matter how good a team’s halfback is, running the ball 35 times is not going to lead to offensive success.3rd Down: In the “Big Up or Slow Down” segment, Alex debates whether the Packers have regained their status as one of the NFC’s elite, whether Rob Gronkowski should have played on the final PAT and if the Lions and Cowboys should always play on Thanksgiving.4th Down: In this week’s “Reimer Rant,” Alex looks at the rescission of the suspension levied upon Ed Reed for repeated hits to opponents’ heads.  What does that say about the seeming lack of power of the league’s disciplinary office?  Also, is it time for the “ex-jock brigade” to recognize they’ve lost the battle about the legality of headshots?Email Alex at areimer@bu.edu, and follow him on Twitter @AlexReimer1.  Have a great Thanksgiving. Alex will appear as a guest on this Friday’s special edition of the “Monday Morning Huddle” podcast to analyze the results from the Patriots/Jets game.
