The probable defensive player of the year J.J Watt came to the defense of Texans quarterback Matt Schaub after heavy criticism after the divisional playoff loss to New England. Why Schaub would come under fire is curious to say the least, he doesn’t play defense, and that’s where the Texans lost the game. The Patriots put up 41 offensive points, the second time this year the Patriots scored over 40 on the Texans. Sure, in the regular season Schaub didn’t play well, but Schaub did as much he could do with an offense that has only two viable threats in Arian Foster and Andre Johnson. Watt was vocal about the defending the Texans signal caller: “Have they ever been in his shoes?” Watt said of the critics. “If you want to sit here and question our quarterback, that’s fine. But every guy in this room believes in him. We all trust and believe that he can take us there. We’re not going to listen to what the outside world says,” according to Jose de Jesus Ortiz and David Barron of the...

Potential 2013 Houston Texans roster changes

The 2012 season is over for the Houston Texans, and now we look onto the potential 2013 Houston Texans roster changes. The Texans will be tipping their ten gallon hats to potentially 17 players this offseason. The first person to mention who may be gone in 2013 and the most important is outside linebacker Connor Barwin. Barwin’s numbers are slightly down from 2011, but he has been...

Gary Kubiak believes in Matt Schaub

Houston Texans head coach Gary Kubiak wants everyone to know that there will not a quarterback competition come next season. Matt Schaub is their unquestioned QB. "I believe in Matt. He's the quarterback of our football team. I've got no doubt about him," Kubiak said Monday via Tania Ganulia of the Houston Chronicle. J.J. Watt is also leading the charge in...

J.J. Watt Says Spit And Stomp At Midfield Is Normal Pregame Ritual

Yesterday Houston Texans All Pro defensive end J.J. Watt made headlines when he was seen spitting on the Patriots logo at midfield and stomping on it.  After the game, Watt had a pretty good explanation for his perceived disrespect to the Patriots logo.  Pro Football Talk is reporting that Watt told Comcast Sports Net that before every game home or away, he goes to midfield, and...

Houston Texans: The Schaub Conundrum

After another game in Foxboro, which pretty much had the same outcome, the Houston Texans are headed home in the second round of the playoffs for the second consecutive year. I’ve said time and time again that if you don’t get at least one step further than the year prior, the season was a disappointment. I realize it’s rough to call a team that was 11-1 just under a couple...

J.J. Watt says his best is still ahead

After a disappointing playoff loss to the Patriots this past Sunday, Houston Texans defensive end J.J. Watt says this is just the beginning. Watt stressed that he’s only going to get better because of how young he is. “I’m 23 years old and two years into the league,” Watt said, via ESPN.com. “I’m still learning what I’m doing out there,” he said. “I have a lot of...

Texans so close, yet so far after playoff loss

The Houston Texans are in one of the rarest positions in sports. They are good, but not good enough. They need to get better, but they can't make any big changes. As Texans' seasons have gone from being about just making the playoffs to being about winning the Super Bowl, the Texans have experienced the magnifying effects of success and expectation. Rapidly, the answer...

Texans' WR Posey suffers torn Achilles tendon

Houston Texans receiver DeVier Posey suffered a torn Achilles tendon in Sunday's loss to the New England Patriots, the Houston Chronicle reported. "It felt like I got shot. I've never felt anything like it," Posey told the Chronicle. A torn Achilles is a serious injury that will require surgery, and it is uncertain whether he will be ready for the start of...

Texans fall short of Patriots, chance at AFC title

The Houston Texans vowed this game would be different than their embarrassing, 28-point loss to the Patriots in the regular season. Only the margin of victory changed. The Texans mounted enough offense to avert a repeat of the Dec. 10 blowout that signaled they weren't ready to compete with the defending AFC champions. With a second chance and a spot in the conference title...

Robert Kraft waited by buses to shake Arian Foster’s hand

Despite it coming in a losing effort, Arian Foster had a big day against the Patriots in Sunday's Divisional Round contest. The Texans' perennial Pro Bowl running back totaled 163 yards and two touchdowns, accounting for most of Houston's offense. The performance didn't go unnoticed. Following his team's 41-28 victory, Patriots owner Robert Kraft stuck around...

Texans DE J.J. Watt Explains His Spitting Ritual

Before Sunday’s game against the Patriots, Texans defensive end J.J. Watt went to midfield, spit on the Patriots' logo and wiped his shoe which caused a pregame stir, Tania Ganguli of the Houston Chronicle reports. Watt didn’t think his actions warranted such a stir. “I do that every game, home or away,” Watt said. “I go out to midfield, spit a little bit, wipe my...

The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly: Playoff Edition 2

Houston Texans at New England Patriots: Five Things We Learned

The game script was supposed to be like the last one -- Houston shows up, New England dominates them at home. At times the game did feel like the Pats were rolling the Texans, but most of the time it seemed like an act of futility.A lot of sound and fury signifying nothing. The only time it really felt like The Texans were in it was the end of the half when Shane Graham's 55...
