Browns CEO Joe Banner told Mary Kay Cabot of The Plain Dealer that he and owner Jimmy Haslam III will use the final seven games to decide if rookie Brandon Weeden is the Browns' quarterback of the future. Banner told Cabot the team will rely on football personnel inside the building to help make that decision.
Despite a constant stream of doomsday talk in Cleveland, Banner said he's open to retaining Pat Shurmur as coach and Tom Heckert as general manager. Banner worked with both as members of the Philadelphia Eagles and praised their talents. Banner said he's more concerned with building a quality staff than this year's win-loss record.
"We're looking for leadership, attention to detail, character, those kinds of things," Banner said. Source: NFL.com Attached Thumbnails

Awesome Phil Dawson Gets Vanderjacked for the Browns
Phil Dawson has been a Cleveland Brown since joining the NFL in 1999 and sad part of that story is Phil Dawson has been a Cleveland Brown since 1999!
Dawson had a great game on Sunday as he led the Browns by going 5-5 from Field Goal range. Unfortunately, that was all the points the Browns could muster as they fell to the Ravens 25-15. What’s more impressive is Dawson is at 100...
In defense of the great Phil Dawson
I was reading an otherwise great article today at Grantland by Bill Barnwell that pointed out how bad a job Jacksonville Jaguars GM Gene Smith is at his job, when a snippet caught my attention. While talking about Josh Scobee and his contract from the Jags, a footnote said the following about Phil Dawson.
Given that kickers are incredibly inconsistent from year to year, I still...
