Getty Images According to WWLTV News in New Orleans, the lawyers for Saints linebacker Jonathan Vilma have informed Judge Helen G. Berrigan that they will be filing an injunction regarding his year-long suspension that was handed down by NFL commissioner Roger Goodell, in case he decides to “not rescind” his suspension after his June 18th appeal. The injunction would give Judge Berrigan the power to decide whether or not Vilma will play in 2012.  It could also force the NFL and Goodell to show some concrete evidence that Vilma was involved in the Saints alleged bounty scandal, if in fact they possess such evidence. The reason Judge Berrigan will handle Vilma’s injunction is because he filed his defamation case against Goodell in her court. Part of Vilma’s injunction reads as follows, “Mr. Vilma intends to seek injunctive relief in a separate action filed in this District which we believe would be considered a related case and assigned to your Honor …” “Since such an action would req...

Saints Nation's Interview with Isa Abdul-Quddus

I had the tremendous opportunity to meet Isa Abdul-Quddus in person this week and interview him, as you can see pictured here. It was a true honor to hang out for an hour with a quality person and player. Abdul-Quddus came from relative anonymity as an undrafted rookie free agent from Fordham last year to making the Saints' 53 man roster on opening day. He was able to stay on...

Drew Brees: Fans sick of BountyGate

While appearing on the Late Show with David Lettermen, the Saints quarterback argued that people are growing weary of hearing about the BountyGate scandal.

Brees' franchise tag arbitration hearing held

NFL Players Association attorney Jeffrey Kessler says an arbitrator expects to rule within a week on arguments presented Wednesday concerning the Saints' use of the NFL's franchise tag on quarterback Drew Brees. Arbitrator Stephen Burbank is handling the matter of how to interpret language in the NFL's collective bargaining agreement, which requires any club that designates...

Saints Nation: Chronic Podcast - Less Than 40 Days to Actual Football Edition

Andrew Juge of The Saints Nation stops by to explain why he is super geeked to finally be able to watch the coaches film to grade Saints players.  He and Ralph also discuss the one question they would love the national media to ask Roger Goodell. Also after reviewing all the NFL's evidence in the bounty case Andrew wonders how the hell Roman Harper avoided the Commissioner...

Drew Brees Is A Hack – KSK Kontent Klearinghouse

Ha ha, it’s funny because hack is outmoded slang for a taxi driver. Anyway, Drew Brees drives the Cash Cab in a video to promote concussion awareness issues for youth athletics. You can tell this was really spontaneous and not at all scripted by the fact that you can see the police escort for Breesus’ vehicle in every shot. – Ocho proposed to his fiancee while playing Call...

What they might be thinking: NFC South

New Orleans Saints Whether we agree with Bountygate or not, we have to accept the consequences and move on as best as we can. Our first order of business is to get Drew Brees locked down with a long term deal. Make no mistake about it, Brees will be on the field with the Saints this season. Our coaching situation presents a unique challenge, but we're a veteran team, and we think...

Ruling Could Affect All Franchised Players

Drew Brees has been designated as a "Franchise" player again, but this time it's his third such designation. If that's the case, Brees could stand to reap millions more in his next deal -- a deal that wil affect other Franchised players. Perhaps the Saints should have acted sooner.

Brees confident deal gets done before camp

For some reason or another the New Orleans Saints have yet to extend franchise quarterback Drew Brees. With the July 16th deadline to extend Brees rapidly approaching the window to sign Brees is slowing closing. Brees has already stated that he will not sign the franchise tender and may even hold out if a deal is not reached. However, while on Mike and Mike today Brees seemed confident...
