After watching getting knocked out of last week’s game against the Ravens, Cleveland Browns kick returner Josh Cribbs says his family doesn’t want him playing football anymore.

“Everyone was calling and couldn’t stop crying,” said Cribbs, per the Cleveland Plain-Dealer, who has two young children. “My brother, who’s the reason why I’m playing football, even he wants me to stop.”

“They’re saying, ‘I know you love the game but we don’t want you to play anymore,’” he said of his own family. “They’re like, ‘Family’s more important. You’ve got so many years of your life. You’ve showed enough good football.’”

Cribbs says he feels great and is ready for this week’s game.

“I feel great,” said Cribbs, who was limited in practice. “I’ve had no symptoms and I’m ready to play [Sunday] against the Giants. I’m not scared of taking another hit.”

Cribbs head injury seems to have scared everyone but Josh

Josh Cribbs shares with rookie receivers Sometimes the things we love most about NFL players is also their worst and most self-destructive attribute. Josh Cribbs talked to the media yesterday and showed his patented toughness after taking a vicious head shot from an odd angle against the Ravens. The hit knocked him unconscious but Cribbs, as if transported from a different decade...

Phil Taylor eager to get back but “won’t push it”

One of the nicer stories in an otherwise disappointing year so far for the Browns has been the defensive line. Much-maligned John Hughes and surprising late-rounder Billy Winn have been surprisingly good filling in for Phil Taylor. While it is a nice story, there’s no doubt that it would be an even better one if they were coming in to spell Taylor rather than filling in for him...

Mike Holmgren should keep his job with the Browns

Everyone Cleveland Browns fan is willing to fire Mike Holmgren and everyone on the Browns coaching staff now, but the progress the Browns will make in 2012 should save his job. I know the Browns are literally defeated this season at 0-4, but the pieces to the puzzle are being filled right in front of our eyes. Firstly under Mike Holmgren in his first draft in 2010, he drafted cornerback...

Cleveland Browns Film Room: Scripting the Opening Offensive Series

One of the most telling parts of the gameplan will be revealed to open the game. Those are almost always going to be scripted plays to try and set the tone for the whole game. This week, the Browns were pretty successful to open the game, at least for the first few plays as they grabbed a quick first down. Let’s see exactly what they did and what they might have been telegraphing...

Browns Owner, Jimmy Haslam III, Not Planning Immediate Changes

Cleveland Browns incoming owner, Jimmy Haslam III, has stated that he doesn't plan on making any immediate changes once the sale of the team is final. This comes after weeks of speculation that he will immediately replace team President Mike Holmgren with rumored part owner, Joe Banner. Additionally, given the Browns 0-4 start and 10 game (and counting) losing streak dating...

Umenyiora dares Trent Richardson

Giants defensive end Osi Umenyiora responded to Browns running back Trent Richardson and dared him to see what he could do against them.

Mitt Romney and the Cleveland Browns have a lot in common

Mainly, that Romney and the Browns both make it really hard on their opponents to take them seriously, which tends to show when they face off with these opponents. Of course, no one can blame Browns fan for straining to believe in something. But in all the excitement over some close losses(!) in an 0-4 start(!!!) and a ten-game-and-counting losing streak(!!!!!) in which the Browns...

New Browns owner not planning immediate changes

Jimmy Haslam III won't spend his first days as owner of the Browns handing out pink slips. Haslam, whose $1 billion purchase of Cleveland's franchise is expected to be approved by NFL owners later this month, said Thursday through a team spokesman that he has no plans to make any personnel changes ''until after the year.'' At 0-4, the Browns are the only...

Cleveland Browns (0-4) at New York Giants (2-2)

Cleveland Browns (0-4) at New York Giants (2-2) In my weekly Power Rankings, I had the Browns in last for the 3rd straight week, but I didn’t feel comfortable about. Yes, the Browns are one of two remaining 0-4 teams and compared to the other one, New Orleans, they’re much less likely to turn things around. They’re the only 0-4 team that isn’t really a surprise. Everyone...

Another Giants receiver could be out against Browns

Earlier in the week we talked about the likelihood of Hakeem Nicks suiting up for the Giants. Now his replacement, Ramses Barden, might be doubtful too with a concussion. “He complained of a headache and asked if he could be evaluated,” Coughlin said, via the team. “They sent him for the evaluation yesterday. I think a lot of the symptoms were okay, but there was enough there...
