After a few long months without football, it is finally here! The 2014 NFL draft is Thursday and the Kansas City Chiefs are looking to draft some potential game changing players. With only six picks in the entire draft, the first thing I would advise is to trade their first round pick and acquire an extra pick in the second round in order to add depth to the roster. This year’s draft class is loaded with talent and listed is my complete seven round mock draft that could benefit the Chiefs in numerous ways. Round 2 Jason Verrett, CB – 5-10, 189 lbs – TCU He is everything you want in a cornerback: strong, physical, and fast. Nearly the build of Brandon FLowers, Verrett could be a reliable option with the Chiefs first pick in this years draft. Round 2 Dee Ford, DE – 6-2, 252 lbs – Auburn Ford is a little undersized for a DE, but just as Tamba Hali did early in his career, he could convert into an athletic linebacker and give the Chiefs another option rushing the quarterback. Round 3 Martavis Bryant, WR - 6-4, 211 lbs – Clemson An underrated wideout in the shadow of teammate Sammy Watkins, Bryant has the ability to make a huge impact on a team and would be a nice compliment opposite side of Dwayne Bowe. Round 4 Aaron Murray, QB - 6-1, 207 lbs – Georgia With his draft stock sliding due to an ACL injury, Murray could be a real steal in the middle rounds of the draft. Murray is by far the most tested QB in the draft, and could be a great asset for the Chiefs in years to come. Round 5 Justin Britt, OT - 6-6, 325 lbs – Missouri An athletic run blocker who has played against tough defenses in the SEC. He has played a variety of positions and could be a versatile pick for the Chiefs. Round 6 Wesley Johnson, C - 6-5, 297 lbs – Vanderbilt With his ability to set blocks down the field, Johnson could be the Chiefs future starting center if Rodney Hudson does not remain on the roster after this coming season. Round 6 Jalen Saunders, WR - 5-9, 165 lbs – Oklahoma Saunders could be the perfect replacement for Dexter McCluster. With spots needed filled at both wide receiver and on special teams, Saunders may be the Chiefs best bet. Read more here.
