The Kansas City Chiefs have reportedly decided who they will take with the first pick in the 2013 NFL Draft, and have even informed the other players they were considering of the decision. The Chiefs will select Central Michigan offensive tackle Eric Fisher with the No. 1 pick. Reports had been swirling all day that Fisher would be the guy if Kansas City held on to the pick, and we can now confirm that our sources are telling us that it is all but a done deal. Anything could happen at the last minute, but it appears Fisher will be the guy and he just barely edged out Texas A&M offensive tackle Luke Joeckel for the selection. Charean Williams of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram has reported that the Chiefs informed Joeckel that Fisher would be their selection. This comes after months of speculation that Joeckel was a lock for the top spot in the 2013 draft. ProFootballTalk.com has jumped on the bandwagon, reporting that they have heard the same thing from a source with direct knowledge of the team’s intentions. We’ve been talking to several people throughout the day and the feeling has been that Fisher would be the guy. But we’ve now had it confirmed for us by an AFC West source. Joeckel and Fisher are almost unanimously considered the top two players in this year’s draft. Apparently Fisher’s superior athleticism gave him the edge over Joeckel. But don’t feel bad for the Texas A&M product, he won’t be waiting around long Thursday night. Most experts we’ve talked to think Fisher, Joeckel and fellow top offensive tackle Lane Johnson will all be gone by the seventh pick in the first round.
