Ken Whisenut is the head coach of the Arizona Cardinals. He is the coach of a team that just got demolished by an average Seahawks team 58-0, and has now lost nine in a row after winning their first four games. For Cardinals fans, it's easy to say he should be canned. If only it were that easy.Whisenut is the head coach, and also has a lot of input on personell, along with general manager Rod Graves. Ultimately, they should both be held accountable. The selection of a heir-apparent to quarterback Kurt Warner has been unmitigated disaster. Derek Anderson was brought in for the 2010 season after flash-in-the-pan success in Cleveland. He bombed. Anderson started in only nine games, and only lasted one season in Phoenix. John Skelton and Max Hall also started that season. Hall is back at BYU as a grad student / assistant coach. He only played in the NFL one season. For the 2011 season, the Cardinals went searching through the scrap heap again, this time signing Philadelphia Eagles backup Kevin Kolb. Kolb started only nine games in the 2011 season as he was sidelined by various injuries. John Skelton started the seven other games. For 2012, Skelton and Kolb entered training camp in a competition to decide the starter. They have both started after Kolb was sidelined after a head injury. Skelton was benched for poor performance and rookie Ryan Lindley took over as starter.Keep in mind that Graves has been the general manager since 2002, and the only quarterback he's had that has produced anything other than groans is Warner. Graves has drafted Josh McCown, Matt Leinart, and John Skelton. Not exactly what I would call a stellar track record, especially at a position as important as quarterback.Keep in mind when Whisenhut had a good quarterback, Kurt Warner, he went to the Super Bowl. And with Larry Fitzgerald as your top receiver, having a good quarterback should be a priority.Whisenut has one more year left on his contract. In my opinion, he should be given that. He's earned it with the hand he's been dealt. Graves on the other hand, should be the one to lose his job.
