The President of the Oakland Tourism Board is NOT amused

The NFL is full of long-standing rivalries filled with bitter animosity that helps to ratchet up the intensity on any Sunday the two squads square off. One of the rivalries that has defined the AFC West since the days of the AFL is the one between Oakland and Kansas City. Historically, both teams have enjoyed dominant stretches, but both have had trouble finding success recently (as in the last decade or two). But their lack of success on the field hasn’t done much of anything to quiet the passion or vitriol of their fan bases. Last season, tight end Kevin Boss made the move from the New York Giants to Oakland to be a Raider, and he didn’t understand the Chiefs-Raiders rivalry. Now that he’s on the Chiefs, though, totally gets it.

From NFL.com:

“I was in Oakland for such a short period of time that it wasn’t really something where I really understood the whole Chiefs-Raiders rivalry,” Boss told KCSP-AM in Kansas City, via SportsRadioInterviews.com . “I just know now that I’m on the better side of the rivalry. … It’s been a great transition and it’s really been a blessing in disguise to have been moved on to greener pastures.”

Yes, while being a Raider, totally couldn’t understand the venom towards the Chiefs. But now with the Chiefs, absolutely understands the hate for the Raiders. Top notch trolling, Mr. Boss.

Seen as one of the prize free agents last offseason, Boss disappared into the black hole of Oakland, largely ignored in the Raiders offense. In Kansas City, Boss will pair with young tight end Tony Moeaki, who is returning from a knee injury suffered last season, to form one of the better tight end corps in the AFC West. Plus, he doesn’t have to play in Oakland more than once a season, so everything is coming up Boss!

Raider Nation, long known to be a bastion of even-tempered, mentally stable pillars of morality, are sure to welcome Boss back into the black hole with open arms. Of course, if he ends up in the black hole, authorities are going to have one hell of a time locating the body because those open arms will drag him down into a deep dark place that nobody wants to find themselves. Which is anywhere in Oakland, I’m guessing.
