by Robert KarpelesFiled under: UFLFormer NFL running back and first-round draft pick Kevin Jones is taking his talents to Connecticut to play for the UFL's Hartford Colonials, according to a press release from the league.
Jones, the 30th pick by the Detroit Lions out of Virginia Tech in the 2004 NFL Draft, battled foot and ankle injuries in his six seasons in the NFL. He was released by the Chicago Bears last March.
The Colonials lead the league in rushing through the first two games of the season.
Jones was productive in his rookie season with the Lions, becoming only the third running back in the franchise's history to rush for 1,000 or more yards in his rookie season. But after battling injuries, Jones was never fully able to match or surpass his first season's numbers. Permalink | Email this | Linking Blogs | Comments
