Vikings DT Kevin Williams will be active with the team in Week 3 and beyond, thanks to the completion of his 2 game suspension for failing a drug test in 2008 in connection with a weight loss drug that was banned by the NFL.  Williams will be a nice spark to a defense that has defended well against the run, but struggled against the pass in their first two games. Williams, now in his 9th NFL season, has recorded 366 total tackles in his career, and made 49.5 sacks.  His presence on the line will certainly be of benefit to DE Jared Allen, who despite being the focal point on defense, still managed to produce well in the first two games without Willams. In order to make room on the Vikings roster, Minnesota waived DE Adrian Awasom.  It is worth noting that while Williams’ playing suspension is over, he is also forfeiting 4 total weeks of game pay, meaning that he will play this week and the next without being paid.  That fine will wind up costing Williams approximately $1.4 Million.
