-It's a shame that it took a season-ending injury to Jay Cutler for so many people to realize how good he is.

-The Rex Ryan-Brandon Jacobs spat after the Jets-Giants game was entertaining, and I'll admit Ryan's unconditional bravado can get tiresome, but the reality check would have had a lot more substance coming from almost anyone other than Jacobs.

-I'll be as glued to the tube as anyone for the win-and-in Giants-Cowboys game Sunday night, but let's be honest: does anyone expect either team to be playing beyond Wild Card weekend?
-So what were people saying about Aaron Rodgers not being the MVP this year?

-Good job, Lions for getting to the playoffs for the first time in twelve years and then for sharing in the victory with their fans after their 38-10 win over the Chargers. Say what you want about Jim Schwartz's squad, but few teams are as connected to their community as the Lions are to Detroit.

-If you're an AFC playoff team, you're hoping that the Broncos win the West and not the Raiders. Teams like Oakland that can beat you so many different ways are lethal in the playoffs. Plus, I can only imagine how much the Black Hole would be rocking for their first playoff game in nine years.

-The Steelers won 27-0 to improve to 4-1 in their last five games without Ben Roethlisberger. I know they were playing the Rams, but still. It's hard for me to imagine any team other than Pittsburgh representing the AFC in the Super Bowl.

-I know about the comedown year that young quarterbacks such as Josh Freeman and Sam Bradford have experienced recently, but I really think next year the Panthers will be ready for a Wild Card berth. Get Jon Beason back, have a defense-focused draft, and plug some holes in free agency, and they could be right there, even in such a tough division.

-I understand that the Vikings are going to want to stick with Christian Ponder and see what they have in last year's twelfth overall pick, but Joe Webb needs to get an opportunity to start somewhere.

-I'm really conflicted about the Patriots. On the one hand, they look way too inconsistent to go on a serious playoff run. On the other hand, they seem to be the kind of team that gets it done when they have to, a la the 2006 Colts.
