I hate the fine system, but it is what it is and sadly we have to live with it. That being said I would not be surprised if Buffalo Bills linebacker Kiko Alonso is hit pretty hard with fines by time the Thursday night game is done.
First there was the hit on Hoyer in the first quarter. Call me crazy, but it looked to me like Hoyer had started his slide and it was helmet to helmet. This time it looks like he nails a defenseless receiver from behind.
I think the defenseless receiver call is a pretty fine line. There was no flag in the game so the refs obviously didn't see anything wrong, but that doesn't mean the league will not when it reviews the film.
The man's energy and intensity is awesome, but if he doesn't start playing with his head (not literally) a little more it's going to cost him.

Today Dan Pompei who has been covering the NFL for years had a sit down with an NFL Front Office member to ask him about Josh Freeman. “He has all the tools,” said one high-ranking front office man who was studying tape of Freeman before our conversation. “He is big, strong and athletic. He is […]
BY NICK ST. DENISThe Buffalo Bills signed veteran kicker Dan Carpenter to fill in for the injured sixth-round rookie Dustin Hopkins, and since, Carpenter has made a good case for a longer-term stay.Carpenter has made his last 10 kicks after missing his very first attempt as a Bill. He'll get an opportunity Thursday night to add to that streak, as Bills coach Doug Marrone said...
Buffalo Bills head coach Doug Marrone said via the team's official Twitter account that quarterback E.J. Manuel suffered a LCL sprain Thursday night against the Cleveland Browns and luckily won't miss too much time away from the team, or so goes the report.
On a crucial 3rd and 8 in the 3rd quarter, Buffalo Bills quarterback EJ Manuel showed off his athleticism and gained the first down on the ground on a nice scramble. Rather than step out of bounds, Manuel tried to gain an extra few yards and took a shoulder to his knee. Manuel was down immediately and in pain. Both the Browns and Bills have lost their starting quarterbacks...
Bills running back C.J. Spiller (ankle) is active for Thursday's game against the Browns.Fantasy Spin:Spiller made good progress with his sprained ankle this week, but he's still an extremely risky fantasy option. He has been outplayed by Fred Jackson in all four games, is dealing with the injury and will face a Browns team that has allowed the lowest yards per carry in the...
Today during a press conference with Doug Marrone the Bills fans, and organization made a huge SIGH. Buffalo Bills @buffalobills11m Doug Marrone: EJ Manuel has an LCL sprain that does not require surgery. Expected to return in a few weeks. Manuel was hurt last night and is expected to miss a week or two, while Stevie […]
Buffalo rookie quarterback EJ Manuel left the Bills' game Thursday night against the Browns with a knee injury, and the team said his return was doubtful.
Manuel was hit on the right knee by Browns safety Tashaun Gipson at the end of a 14-yard run. Manuel stayed down in obvious pain and then walked slowly to the sideline before he was replaced by rookie backup Jeff Tuel. Manuel...
Thursday night the Buffalo Bills were hoping to improve to 3-2 after playing the Cleveland Browns. There was no reason to think they would not. The Bills have a solid running game, E.J. Manuel is getting better every week, and the defense is not half bad.
Instead they fell to 2-3 and may lose their quarterback for the near future.
About midway through...
BY DAN BEGNOCHEThe Buffalo Bills were accustomed to making teams pay once the punt unit marched onto the field last year. One year later, the punt unit is struggling. And its leader, punter Shawn Powell, is kaput. The team officially announced the release of the 24-year-old Friday, with coach Doug Marrone telling reporters much of problem had to do with the punter's hang time...
Bills need to be careful, same injury RG3 had before tearing his ACL.
Remember RG3 original injury? Yep, LCL. @mikerodak Marrone says Manuel has LCL injury. Will not require surgery. Might be out a few weeks.

Re:Manuel. Very similar mechanism to RG3 original injury (hit to the knee on a scramble). Concern is postlat (outside back...
The hit was fine.
It's the way the Cleveland Browns reacted after free safety Tashaun Gipson leveled Buffalo Bills quarterback EJ Manuel during the third quarter Thursday night that had Bills center Eric Wood fired up today in the locker room.
"The hit was fine. What ticked me off was the way they acted afterwards" Wood said late this morning a little over 12 hours...
EJ Manuel probably had the worst game of his short career last week against Baltimore. He threw two interceptions, had two fumbles, and completed just 45% of his pass attempts. His ball security, questioned by Jon Gruden last spring, was an issue. He also missed a WIDE OPEN Stevie Johnson because he couldn’t set his feet and fell away from the throw. But despite all of that, the...
Bills receiver Stevie Johnson left Thursday's game against the Browns with a back injury, but is expected to be fine for the team's next game in nine days.Fantasy Spin:Johnson was diagnosed with a lumbar strain, according to the team's web site. The bigger issue is the quarterback throwing the ball over the next weeks - Jeff Tuel.
The Buffalo Bills and Cleveland Browns are two of the most tortured franchises in NFL history. Here is your NFL drinking game to get through the game.
Someone channel Terry Pegula's quote of "Injuries are a fact of life!" or something like that. I can't really fault the way the Bills played tonight...Alright, I can fault Aaron Williams for looking like Aaron Williams from 2012 or Justin Rogers against the Jets.
I can also fault how the Bills backup QB plan of cutting T. Jackson, keeping a guy who had a history...
