In what has to be considered one of the most confusing backfield situations in the NFL this season, a report this evening suggests that Knowshon Moreno could be the lead back in a crowded backfield for the Denver Broncos on Thursday night. In fantasy circles, teams with running back by committee approaches are difficult to forecast, the Broncos backfield is quickly becoming a nightmare. Denver spent a draft pick on rookie Montee Ball this past spring and he figured to become an integral part of the Broncos running attack. His difficulty with pass protection has become evident in recent weeks and Ronnie Hillman was believed to be in the mix. Now, enter the old standby for the Broncos, Knowshon Moreno. Fox Sports suggests that all three backs will see action on Thursday night against the Ravens with Moreno seeing the most action because of his pass protection skills, followed by Hillman. Ball could be relegated to simply short yardage and goal line carries until he proves he can prote...

Danny Trevathan Drops Touchdown Before End Zone, Causes Teammate Wesley Woodyard to Get Injured (GIF)

Danny Trevathan has to be happy that cuts were made before this Thursday night special. The second-year linebacker for the Denver Broncos added himself to the shortlist of players who have dropped a sure touchdown before crossing the goal line, but he did it with a special twist. When Trevathan snagged a fourth-quarter interception but discarded the ball before he hit paydirt, he...

Broncos' LB drops ball yard short of end zone

Broncos linebacker Danny Trevathan began his touchdown celebration a little too prematurely after an interception, dropping the ball before he crossed the goal line Thursday night in the opener against Baltimore. Trevathan picked off Joe Flacco's pass early in the fourth quarter and had clear sailing to the end zone. A few yards short, he began his celebration and dropped the...

Manning throws NFL record 7 TDs as Broncos rout Ravens

Peyton Manning won the Poster War. Manning was hanging in banner form back turned to his enemy pictured in the classic quarterback pose a glove missing from his right passing hand. The other poster controversially hanging outside the stadium that Denver-area taxpayers and Broncos owner Pat Bowlen built was Joe Flacco. He represented the bane of what Denver fans wish for. After...

Who Ordered The Orange Julius?

Seriously, who?  It wasn’t me, though I do think they’re quite tasty.  This season has started out with a bang for sure but of all the bangs I expected, this wasn’t it.  Julius Thomas led the offensive charge for the Denver Broncos on the opening night of the season for the Denver Broncos, scoring 2 touchdowns on passes of 23 and 24 yards and finished his fantastic night...

Peyton Manning puts up video game numbers as Broncos defeat Ravens

You know when you are playing Madden and you are unstoppable, well last night Peyton Manning has that feeling. At least in the second half. Believe it or not the Denver Broncos were actually losing at halftime 17-14. If you stopped watching the game after the first quarter when you saw the miscommunication between Peyton Manning and the Broncos wide outs, you would be stunned when...

Fantasy Football: Thursday Night Preview

The person, committee, and/or super computer(s) that create the yearly NFL schedule are amazing. Arguably, the most memorable game of last season (other than the Super Bowl) was the Baltimore vs. Denver AFC Divisional playoff matchup. With just over thirty seconds left in the fourth quarter, Joe Flacco tossed a prayer into the air and free safety Rahim Moore made a similar last...

Broncos will try three-headed RB

Montee Ball said there's no such thing as pass protection for running backs in high school. In college he was merely introduced to it. The Denver Broncos' rookie running back has quickly learned that at the NFL level taking on pass rushers is nearly as important as carrying the ball. "My problem is I'm coming from Wisconsin a power school and I had 900 carries...

Revenge is a Dish Best Served with Buffalo Dip

Believe it or not, I actually had a moment of doubt before last night’s Denver Broncos-Baltimore Ravens game. An old friend called me for gambling advice, and despite having predicted a potential 16-0 season for Denver and writing this, this, and this about Joe Flacco, I stumbled before telling him I thought the Broncos would win by double digits. It was fair to doubt them...
