Even though running back Arian Foster refused Wednesday to acknowledge that he had been the one who asked for a players-only meeting Monday coach Gary Kubiak believed the meeting was a good thing. "I think it's good" Kubiak said. "When you've got guys that care and they're all in it together I think those things are good." A few veterans spoke about focusing on the next game at San Francisco and not being distracted by criticism of the team in general and quarterback Matt Schaub in particular after the 23-20 overtime loss to Seattle. "It was a lot of guys talking" nose tackle Earl Mitchell said. "Matt definitely came forward and told us how he felt. Antonio (Smith) really expressed himself. Ed (Reed) he definitely came up with some wisdom." Outside linebacker Whitney Mercilus also thought the meeting was productive but he questioned the need for it after a 2-2 start. "It was good to see where everybody's minds were at" he said. "It's the same like it's always been; we're down for our brothers no matter what. "Honestly I don't think it was needed. We already knew what the morale was. We already knew how close and tight-knit we are." Expect Cushing Brown to play Inside linebacker Brian Cushing expects to be cleared and in the lineup at San Francisco. He left the Seattle game with a concussion. Left tackle Duane Brown who missed the last two games because of a toe injury told the media he expects to start against the 49ers. Right guard Brandon Brooks (toe) could be a game-time decision. "We were pretty light in what we did (Wednesday) so I could get everybody involved (and) Duane did participate" coach Gary Kubiak said. "He stayed out and did a little extra. It was a step in the right direction. "Cushing did participate in what we were doing. He won't get through (concussion protocol) probably until Friday but he's headed in the right direction. He's doing good."
