The Houston Texans entered the season with a Super Bowl mentality. After surrendering a 17-point lead to lose 23-20 to the Seattle Seahawks in overtime, coach Gary Kubiak and his team are trying to keep things in perspective after an unexpected rocky start. ''We're not where we want to be, but there's a long, long way to go,'' Kubiak said Monday. ''We're a very capable football team, but we've got to be a more consistent football team.'' The loss on Sunday added to an inconsistent start in which the team has been involved in close games three out of four weeks. While there are questions, Kubiak's keeping the long term in focus and working with specific players - including quarterback Matt Schaub. A quick start had Houston up 20-3 at halftime. Instead of a statement win, the final whistle that followed Steven Hauschka's 45-yard game-winning field goal in overtime only brought more questions. It didn't help that linebacker Brian Cushing was lost to a concussion. ''It's a tough pill to swallow,'' Kubiak says. ''We're a strong group. It hurts, but we'll rally.'' Kubiak praised his defense, which held the Seattle offense to 16 points and created turnovers, something they've looked for early in the season. ''They've been impressive,'' Kubiak said. ''I think we're a dang good defense and we have a chance to be great. I think we're working toward that.'' Kubiak said Cushing will enter the league's mandatory protocol and will be evaluated later this week. Houston (2-2) failed to score after a 20-point second quarter and most critics are looking at Schaub, who was 31 for 49 for 355 yards and two touchdowns through the air. But he had two interceptions, including cornerback Richard Sherman's 58-yard return for a touchdown with 2:40 to go in the fourth quarter. Kubiak is standing by his signal-caller and looking for ways to help him. ''He's our quarterback,'' Kubiak said. ''I don't see a lack of confidence. I see poor decision-making situations. It's something he has to handle and something we have to help him handle.'' Kubiak is adamant the Texans are not close to pressing the panic button but knows that the team's issues have to be fixed before another big game this weekend against the NFC champion 49ers. Notes: Left tackle Duane Brown continues to work with the team but Kubiak maintained that he remains day-to-day. J.J. Watt, Antonio Smith and Brandon Brooks (toe) were all mentioned as players with minor injuries that are not expected to cost them time.

Heels in the Pro’s: Could Yates be seeing playing time?

Heels in the Pro’s: T.J. YatesIn Chapel Hill some of the fans have been wondering about the team’s quarterback, Bryn Renner. The questions being raised are from whether or not it is the gunslinger’s fault of what is going on with the squad, all the way to the possibility if Renner should be benched, especially since right now he is battling an injury. But, from the sounds of...

J.J. Watt Takes Shot to Face, Plays Through Incredibly Bloody Injury (Photos)

J.J Watt wasn’t going to let a little — okay, a lot — of blood keep him from playing on Sunday afternoon. The defensive end took a shot to the face during Houston’s matchup against the Seahawks. During the third quarter, Watt took off his helmet to reveal blood streaming down his face, and was forced to leave the field to receive medical attention. The Texans star needed...

The Texans need to start TJ Yates now

I’m sorry Texans fans, but you cannot let a 20-3 lead going into the third quarter. Matt Schaub is a veteran quarterback and he made a stupid rookie mistake that cost him the game yesterday. When getting rushed late in the game Schaub elects to throw a floater in the air to the flats. The […]

WATCH: Texans fans burn Matt Schaub jersey outside stadium

Matt Schaub never struck me as the most beloved player ever so his downfall may not be all that dramatic, but it’s still fun to watch an established starting quarterback get turned on by his team’s fans. With a pick-six in each of his last three games (two of them losses), Schaub has gone from “serviceable starter if you want to contend but not win a Super Bowl” to straight...

Photo: Texans fans burn Matt Schaub jersey following loss

Houston Texans fans have had enough. Following Houston's 23-20 overtime loss to the Seattle Seahawks, a swarm of angry fans spilled out into the parking lot and proceeded to set ablaze any and all Matt Schaub jerseys. Some of it probably had to do with the fact that the Texans squandered a 20-3 lead despite 355 yards passing and two touchdowns from Schaub. However, he did...

Houston Restaurant Offers Matt Schaub Burger, Allowing You To ‘Pick Six’ Toppings

On Sunday Houston Texans quarterback Matt Schaub threw an interception that was returned for a touchdown by Richard Sherman of the Seahawks and allowed Seattle to tie the game. It was the disappointing QB’s third pick-six in three games. One Houston restaurant decided to “honor” Schaub and his lackluster accuracy with his own delicious burger. Skeeters Mesquite Grill offered...

Let the Matt Schaub Jersey Burning Begin!

It is a frustrating time to be a fan of the Houston Texans. The team was supposed to kick butt this year. It was supposed to lock down opposing offenses, run all over their defenses, and pretty much dominate them in every facet of the game. Yeah--that hasn't happened. @LanceZeirlen/Twitter There are multiple issues the team needs to address, but there is one that...

Texans' Duane Brown is listed day-to-day with a sprained toe

Houston Texans left tackle Duane Brown is listed day-to-day because of a sprained toe suffered on Sept. 15 against the Tennessee Titans, Drew Dougherty reports. Brian Cushing Blows Up Marshawn Lynch, Causes Fumble (Video)

The Houston Texans are trying to send a message to the NFL, and they are delivering the beast mode to the Seattle Seahawks. The Texans are hitting today, and no hit was bigger than this one by Brian Cushing on Marshawn Lynch that caused a fumble and a turnover for the Texans. H/T Bleacher Report

Garrett Graham Finds End Zone vs. Seattle

Houston backup tight end Garrett Graham caught his third touchdown of the season Sunday against the Seahawks.Fantasy Spin:Graham has 12 catches this season after pulling in five Sunday. He's not going to see a ton of targets as the No. 2 tight end, but Matt Schaub looks for him often in the red zone.

Fight In Qualcomm Stadium Parking Lot Culminates In Bottles Being Broken Over Peoples’ Heads

If parking lot incidents in two different cities on Sunday are any indication, stupid behavior does not discriminate between NFL fan bases. Late Sunday, photos and video surfaced of Houston Texans fans burning a Matt Schaub jersey in the Reliant Stadium parking lot. In that incident, at least nobody was harmed. The same can’t be said for this fight outside Qualcomm Stadium in San...
