Current #1, Donnie Avery. Wait, what? Let me start by saying I'm not picking on the Rams. And, yes, I realize with players getting released, free agency, trades and the draft, that rosters today are far from what they'll be the opening weekend of the NFL 2009 season. That said, we couldn't help but do a double-take when checking out the Rams receiving corps sans the recently-released Torry Holt. The move was neither unexpected nor illogical. In fact, it makes perfect sense. This a Rams team looking to get younger and clear some cap space in the process. Getting rid of Holt does just that. The scarier part is what's left behind. Will it stay this way for long? Surely not (at least we would hope), but it demanded a double-take from this avid NFL fan the first time we came across it. Our immediate reaction? Major League.
