When the Dolphins let Reggie Bush walk this off-season it was assumed 2nd year running back Lamar Miller would be given the keys to the running game and put his skill set and quick feet to the test on the field. Miller has had the fan base and fantasy football owners excited by his potential as many has touted him to be the next stud running back in the league. Many assumed that he would be given the bulk load of carries and had the potential for a strong season, Miller himself set a goal of 1,500 yards this season. Well with all the excitement despite not having a fumbling issue in his prior carries in his rookie year or his time at the U, Miller fumbled his first snap this preseason causing many to think maybe it's time to slow down the hype on the young back. After the HOF game,  ESPN's Adam Schefter tweeted many around the league have concern over the Dolphins running game Today, Miami Herald writer Armando tweeted that the starting running back job is still up f...

State of the Dolphins: Who’s winning the camp battles?

The Miami Dolphins are just about halfway through the preseason.  So we thought it would be a good time to take a look at where the Dolphins position battles stand just 26 days before the team heads to Cleveland for the season opener.   The Dolphins have a number of position battles taking place, including a number of starting positions.  Injuries have certainly played a part...

Dolphins return to practice Sunday, but without Dion Jordan

The Miami Dolphins returned to the practice field on Sunday, following their 27-3 victory on Friday night against the Jaguars.  The focus of the practice was on fundamentals, so there were no 11 on 11 drills as is customary.  According to the Sun Sentinel, Joe Philbin said:  “I thought that we had a really good practice today. We decided to change up the practice schedule a...

Dolphins skin the Jags 27-3: Tannehill & Keller impressive, Wallace returns

The Miami Dolphins had only 5 days to think about their poor performance in the Hall of Fame Game last Sunday.  Ryan Tannehill and the Dolphins were anxious to get back on the field and show that their sloppy performance last week, was simply due to it being early in the preseason.   It didn’t help that the first practice after that game was perhaps the Dolphins (and Tannehill’s...

Will the Miami Dolphins make the playoffs?

The Dolphins have suffered through mediocre seasons for over the past decade, with the exception of the horrendous 1-15 2007 season, and the miraculous 11-5 record in 2008. Year in and year out , the Dolphins either: play a great first half of the season, followed by a disappointing second half, or vice versa. Usually, the Dolphins come up short when it comes to the off-season moves...

Caleb Sturgis appears in line to make Dolphins final roster

DAVIE, Fla. -- It would have been easy for Caleb Sturgis to feel like a fan before Friday's game at EverBank Field. Sturgis cheered for the Jacksonville Jaguars while growing up just down the road in St. Augustine. And there he was on the field before a game involving the Jaguars. "It was pretty neat. I was able to catch most of their games as a kid. Absolutely, Sturgis...

Miami Dolphins Top Pick Dion Jordan Unimpressive Through First Two Outings

Yes,I know it’s only preseason. That, however, does not change the fact that the Miami Dolphins spent the third overall pick of the 2013 NFL Draft on what they thought would be an impact, pass-rushing defensive end in Dion Jordan. Through two preseason games, Jordan hasn’t shown to be anything close to that. In fact, without watching the games, you’d have to look twice at...

Dolphins dominate turnover battle, beat down Jaguars 27-3

When Dolphins cornerback Nolan Carroll intercepted a deflected pass in Friday's game at Jacksonville it represented a promising step in the team's development. Takeaways are a rarity for Miami. And when the offense turned Carroll's interception into a touchdown well that was a giant leap forward. Touchdowns are also a rarity. So too was the 58-yard field goal by rookie...

Miami Dolphins 2013: Most Overrated and Underrated Players

The Miami Dolphins' offensive line is going through a bit of transition this season. A change at left tackle, where the team allowed Jake Long to leave for greener pastures (and more green) in St. Louis, has created a bit of a cluster of chaos along the line.Jonathan Martin moved to the left side, to take Long’s place. Josh Samunda is getting a lot of playing time with the...

Garner Getting a Shot

The Dolphins continue to find a permanent solution at right guard, and it's versatile veteran Nate Garner who's getting a look now. Garner replaced Josh Samuda during the Dolphins' fourth offensive possession Friday night after Samuda struggled.

Dolphins' Mike Wallace chasing 2,000-yard receiving season

DAVIE, Fla. -- It's got as much a chance of happening as no-nonsense Joe Philbin performing a vaudeville skit. But at least it's fun that Mike Wallace is still talking about having a 2,000-yard receiving season. In 2011, when the wideout was with the Pittsburgh Steelers, he told the Beaver County Times about the upcoming season, "I have big goals. I plan to get 2,000...

Dolphins' offensive starters yet to find stride

BY SEAN DONOVANAt a quick glance of the box score, it looks like the Miami Dolphins clicked as a team during their second preseason game -- a 27-3 victory over the Jacksonville Jaguars Friday night. But a closer examination reveals a group of offensive first-stringers still struggling to get on the same page.Quarterback Ryan Tannehill looked indecisive in the pocket for a second straight...

Lions beefing up depth at running back

(Eds: Updates.) By SCOTT HELD Associated Press Running back Reggie Bush was one of the bigger free-agent signings in Detroit Lions history. That doesn't means he will be hogging the carries this season. Joique Bell and Mikel Leshoure rushed for more than a combined 1,000 yards in Detroit's pass-happy offense last year and offensive coordinator Scott Linehan thinks there...
