Imagine you’re Colin Kaepernick. As a backup quarterback for the 49ers, you come into a game mid-season for the injured Alex Smith. You play well enough to take over the role as the starting quarterback and you successfully lead your team to the Super Bowl. You lose, and now you’re faced with your first full year at the helm. Your team got rid of the quarterback whose job you...
After a strong preseason, 49ers cornerback Nnamdi Asomugha has won the No. 3 cornerback spot, according to the San Francisco Chronicle.
As a result, Old Man Asomugha will have a new title when the 49ers open the regular season against Green Bay on Sept. 8: No. 3 cornerback.

49ers punter Andy Lee is apparently working on a 'knuckle punt.' Now, why he'd tell anyone he was working on a such a kick could simply be so that every returner is thinking they might have to deal with said punt but...whatever:
“It’s definitely something I want to do in a game to see how it actually happens in a live situation,” Lee said. “In practice, you can...
The 49ers announced the players they have released today to get down to the NFL mandated 53-man roster. It should be noted that the current players that are on the 53-man roster likely will change after other teams cuts clear waivers and they sign FB Owen Marecic as it has been reported. The two surprises are the release of veteran long snapper Brian Jennings and linebacker Nate...
A lot of football fans were shocked to hear that the man thought to be the best CB in the NFL just a few years ago was struggling to even make the 49ers team. Well it looks like now that Nnamdi Asomugha will play a “major part“ in the 49ers defense as the #3 CB.
“He’s done well in his reps that he’s had in the game and in practice,” Fangio said, via the San Francisco...
San Francisco 49ers quarterback Seneca Wallace was said to be retired after not traveling with the team, to the preseason finale against the San Diego Chargers. Apparently it was just a case of a player not being happy with his current scenery. Don Yee Wallace's agent provided a quote to NFL.com stating that his client wants to continue to play professional football.
The 49ers had to cut ties with 23 players Saturday to get the regular season roster set at 53. There weren't many surprises aside from Brian Jennings, the team's former long snapper that had been with San Francisco for 13 seasons.
Seneca Wallace is not retiring from the NFL contrary to multiple reports that surfaced on Friday. Wallace said he was surprised when he heard the news.
“I have not retired,” Wallace said in a phone interview with the Register. “I have just removed myself from the San Francisco situation because it wasn’t a perfect fit for me.”
The news started circulating after...
From mini camps to OTAs to training camps, 18 NFL players have seen their season come to an end before it even starts. If 49ers WR Michael Crabtree and Giants RB Andre Brown don’t play this year, the number will rise to 20. That’s more than double the amount of season ending injuries that occurred in the preseason during each of the last 5 seasons.
11 of the 18 injuries were...

WR Austin Collie
CB Marcus Cooper
TE MarQueis Gray
WR Chad Hall
