Jets Report:
Jets receiver Laveranues Coles is back with the Jets again this year for his third stint in New York.
No longer wearing his familiar number 87, (fellow wideout David Clowney has it now), Coles is just happy to back with his original organization after spending the 2009 season with the Cincinnati Bengals.
Coles was originally drafted by the Jets in the third round of the 2000 draft out of Florida State. He spent three years with the Jets before leaving to sign a big contract with the Washington Redskins before the 2003 season. But two years later he was traded back to New York, where he played four more seasons with his original team.
Now in his 11th season in the NFL, Coles will spend an eighth year as a Jet, and it’s where he’s always wanted to be. He even says that when his playing career ends, perhaps following the 2010 season, he would like to work for the Jets in some capacity, working his way up eventually into the front office.
