Sean Weatherspoon was drafted by the Falcons with the 19th overall pick in the 2010 NFL Draft.
He became the full-time starter at outside linebacker in 2011and recorded 82 solo tackles, 33 assists, 4.0 sacks, 8 passes defensed, and 1 fumble recovery.
In 2012, Weatherspoon was named captain of the Falcons' defense receiving play calls on the field.
In 2013, he has added ‘veteran leader’ to his resume and enjoying the process.
“I feel like it’s my fourth year,” Weatherspoon said, via Daniel Cox of AtlantaFalcons.com.
“I’m becoming a vet so you’ve got to go out there and apply yourself like a vet. If the leadership role is where I need to be then that’s where I’m going to be. Whatever I can do to help this is all I’m focused on.”
“They’re awesome,” Weatherspoon said about the rookies. “Young guys, they always just come out, they inspire me just because of the way they’re working. It’s the first time to go out there and show us what they can actually do. It’s exciting to watch. I look forward to seeing what they can do to help us.”
