Marcedes wants to stay in Jacksonville.
Of all the potential free agent signing the Jaguars will explore this off season, resigning Marcedes Lewis should be their number one priority.
Lewis expressed his desire to sign a long term deal that would keep him in Jacksonville throughout the prime of his career in a recent interview he did with Tania Ganguli of The Florida Times-Union.
“I love the team I’m on,” Lewis told Ganguli. ”I feel like I have been a big piece to building where we want to go.”
Lewis said both sides are currently working on a long term deal in hopes of avoiding the franchise tag. The Jaguars have until February 24 to decide whether or not they want to place the franchise tag on Lewis.
When a team applies a franchise tag on a player they have to sign him to a one-year contract worth the average of the top five salaries at that position. If the Jaguars were to apply the franchise tag to Lewis it would cost them about $7.3 million in 20...
