NFL Injury Report:
The Detroit Lions held All-Pro wide receiver Calvin Johnson out of last night's preseason game, as the team said he was dealing with a knee contusion, according to Michael David Smith of Pro Football Talk.
As a result of the contusion, the Lions didn't allow Johnson to dress for their second preseason contest against the Cleveland Browns.
While any injury to a player of Johnson's caliber can be concerning, there's no reason to think this is any more than a precautionary move taken by the Lions. He could be dealing with a minor ailment, but it likely wouldn't have sidelined him if this were the regular season.
Johnson got time with the first team during the initial exhibition contest, catching three passes for 58 yards. His absence last night allowed others to get more work, and it's likely that he'll be back on the field for the third preseason game, as most consider it to be the most important tune up prior to the regular season.

Detroit Lions quarterback Matthew Stafford was on the field early Thursday night in Cleveland, getting ready for a preseason game, and couldn't understand why stadium security was practicing chasing down a streaker.

When we think of underrated and overrated players on a football team, we tend to search for the quarterback or the player who just got the new contract after one year of stellar play. We never think of the backup guard or the third-down pass rusher. And we never think of the coach. This might be one of those articles where a case can be made for a coach hanging on too long and doing...
Detroit running back Joique Bell and not Mikel Leshoure may be the No. 2 man behind oft-injured starter Reggie Bush.Fantasy Spin:Bell is getting more opportunities than Leshoure who was on the field for just seven plays in Thursday's exhibition game against Cleveland. The toughest battle the Detroit Lions will have to face this season won’t be an opposing team, but will be in their efforts to restoring the pride of a city they call home.

On Thursday night, the Detroit Lions looked like many season-ticket holders throughout the league during the preseason.
They were no-shows.
The Lions starters got off to a terrible start. They were totally lethargic and ineffective in the first half of 24-6 loss to the Cleveland Browns at FirstEnergy Stadium in Cleveland.
Heres how coach Jim Schwartz summed up their effort during...
An actual, real-life streaker — not the so-called “streakers” who run on to sports fields fully clothed — bared a lot of skin (perhaps too much) as he interrupted the Detroit Lions-Cleveland Browns preseason game during the third quarter on Thursday night. Preseason games are not the best of football games, but occasionally you get some of those plays that you want to see over and over again. Why? Because they are that darn sweet! Chicago Bears rookie Jonathan Bostic had a nice one against San Diego; Lions defensive lineman Ndamukong Suh took advantage of an opportunity to put one on Brows running back Trent Richardson.
It was another unimpressive outing for the Detroit Lions in the preseason, falling to the Cleveland Browns 24-6 in a sloppy performance.
First Down: Reggie Bush
