The Detroit Lions have placed rookie cornerback Bill Bentley on injured reserve because of his hurt shoulder, Anwar Richardson of Mlive reports. As a result, Detroit has re-signed safety Don Carey. Bentley was a third-round draft pick by Detroit this season and supposed to replace Eric Wright, who signed with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers as a free agent. Lions cornerback Alphonso Smith entered training camp as the number one right cornerback, but Bentley took over that spot within a few days. Source: The Redzone Attached Thumbnails

Lions WR Titus Young isn't flying under radar now

The Detroit Lions have found someone to take advantage of all the attention Calvin Johnson gets from opposing defenses. His name is Titus Young. Young has 15 receptions for 181 yards and two touchdowns in the last two games, surpassing his production from the first five games combined. He has been under the radar for much of his short career, but the second-year pro isn't anymore...

Lions look to get back to .500

The great debate in football this week hasnt been whether the Detroit Lions can beat the Jacksonville Jaguars. Its whether a powerhouse college team, No. 1 Alabama, can beat the lowly, 1-6 Jags. The consensus is that Bama wouldnt have a chance, but its a different story for the Lions, who are 4-point favorites for Sundays game at Jacksonville. Here are five storylines to follow...

Calvin Johnson Misses Another Practice On Friday

Anwar Richardson tweets that Lions WR Calvin Johnson missed another practice on Friday because of his sore knee. This is somewhat concerning considering that Johnson hasn’t practiced at all this week, but a number of beat writers have opined that Johnson will be available for Sunday’s game against the Jaguars. At this point in time, it’s safe to suggest that Johnson is...

Lions RB Mikel Leshoure Misses Practice, Not Injury Related

Detroit Lions head coach Jim Schwartch reassured the media and fans by stating that running back Mikel Leshoure missed Wednesday's practice for personal reasons and not an injury. This goes against earlier reports which speculated that the second-year back injured his leg during the third quarter of Sunday's game. Leshoure is questionable heading into Week 9's contest...

Jaguars Receiver Mike Thomas Traded to Lions for Undisclosed Draft Pick

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- A year after giving Mike Thomas a new contract, the Jacksonville Jaguars are giving him a new home. The Jaguars traded Thomas to the Detroit Lions on Tuesday for an undisclosed draft pick. The trade makes sense for both sides. The Lions (3-4) lost receiver Nate Burleson for the season last week, so Thomas gives them depth behind Calvin Johnson...

Detroit Lions at Jacksonville Jaguars: Week 9 NFL Pick

Detroit Lions (3-4) at Jacksonville Jaguars (1-6) Nate Burleson getting hurt might have been the best thing that could possibly happen to the Lions’ offense. It forced the Lions to replace the mediocre Burleson, who was averaging 8.9 yards per catch and (5.6 yards per target), with explosive 2011 2nd round pick Titus Young and it’s also given 2nd round rookie Ryan Broyles more...

Lions WR Calvin Johnson Misses Full Week Of Practice

Detroit Lions wide receiver Calvin Johnson's injured knee isn't getting any better, so the Lions are taking extra steps to try to help him. Megatron missed his third consecutive day of practice on Friday, for most players, that means he is unlikely to play over the weekend against the Jacksonville Jaguars. Mike O'Hara of DetroitLions.com, however, still expects Johnson...

Depth Chart Digging: Week Nine

The Broyles TreatmentPhoto Credit: Kevind810 It's official. The halfway point of the season has arrived and can we just pull over for a second and take a breather? I mean, Calvin Johnson is miles behind us and is lost in some overrated city named Detroit. Arian Foster keeps churning and has established himself as a reliably legit “fantasy workhorse” that will go down in...
