According to Mike Florio of Profootballtalk.com, the Detroit Lions have signed defensive lineman Israel Idonije to a one-year contact.
Idonije made starts at both end positions and defensive tackle for Chicago in 2012.
His versatility will fit him well playing for the Lions and DL coach Jim Washburn who like to move linemen around.
At 6-foot-6, 275-pounds, Idonije looks like a good fit for Detroit’s 4-3 defense which allows the linemen to attack and shoot upfield.
The 32-year-old Idonije totaled 48 tackles and 7.5 sacks for the Bears last season while making 11 starts.
