The Detroit Lions had one big fear coming into this season, losing Matthew Stafford to another season ending injury, giving him the name “glass man”.  Last week against the Atlanta Falcons, Matthew Stafford sprained his ankle during a sack towards the end of the game, causing a day to day decision on Stafford’s ability to start against the Denver Broncos this Sunday. Detroit is facing a 0-2 streak going into Sunday’s game; they need to create a turning point in order to maintain their ability to be playoff contenders. Losing Mathew Stafford would create uncertainty within the offense; Stafford has produced 1,912 passing yards and 16 touchdowns, leading the Lions in offensive play. The biggest concern on offense is the inability of the offensive line to provide quality protection for Matthew Stafford. Season to date the offensive line has allowed Matthew Stafford to be sacked 14 times, every time Matthew Stafford is sacked, there is always the chance he won’t get up. The Lions need to step up and protect Stafford, we cannot accept these sacks and the offensive line needs to do their job, the next time Stafford is sacked could be the season ending hit.
