Dave Birkett of the Detroit Free Press reports that Lions WR Nate Burleson broke his arm in two places Tuesday morning after being involved in a car crash.
Burleson will need to undergo surgery on his broken arm and could be done for the season.
Burleson was was distracted by pizza falling off his front seat and lost control of his car, according to Michigan State Police. Burleson ended up striking the center median wall.
Burleson actually leads the Lions with 19 catches this season, so this is clearly a setback for an already thin group of receivers in Detroit. Second year WR Ryan Broyles will take over for Burleson as the team’s slot receiver, but they’ll probably need to add another receiver at some point in time.
