NFL Injury Report:
The Lions have high hopes for Ezekiel Ansah, whom they took
with the fifth overall pick in the draft. Unfortunately, after being blindside
by Leroy Harris during a non-padded practice on Saturday, he may miss some
Ansah finished the Saturday practice, but unable to work on Sunday and was taken
to the locker room during team stretches. When ask about the injury Head Coach,
Jim Schwartz, according to Dave Birkett of the Detroit Free Press, replied:
"I don’t have any
comment on anybody’s physical condition."
The answer is vague to say the
least; however, it seems to be a smart move on the Lions part, as they try to
keep a competitive edge against opponents. After all, they have no obligation
to discuss injuries with the media, and this buys Ansah time to recover from
whatever injury he sustained before the next injury report comes out. However,
if this turns out to be a concussion, he will need to be cleared by an
independent neurologist before returning.
Ansah was used sporadically
during his time on the BYU football team, but showed so much promise and potential
during the 2013 Senior Bowl that the Lions, desperate for depth at defensive
end, had no choice but to take him. Though he is a freakish athlete, his true
ability is both raw and vastly unknown. He has had an incredible preseason and

Less than a year ago, Harvard Rugland was a Norwegian YouTube sensation. He showed to the world his uncanny accuracy as a kicker. He was so good, that even NFL QBs couldn’t duplicate his crazy placement while throwing the ball, instead. The fame he received from it earned him a contract and training camp invite from the Detroit Lions. But, like 40 other players attempting to make...
Detroit Lions quarterback Mathew Stafford is doing alright. The man recently signed a nice contract extension. He has one of the best wide receivers in the game to throw to. He might actually have a running game for a change in Reggie Bush.
And than there is his girlfriend--the lovely Kimberly Hall.
Lucky for us she is pretty photogenic and likes to share her pictures...
The rout was on early for the Detroit Lions against the Buffalo Bills on Thursday night’s preseason finale. Even though the Lions offense put up 35-points, it was mostly the second and third team offenses that found the end zone, leaving lingering questions about Matthew Stafford’s ability to lead this team.

The Detroit Lions rebounded from deplorable week in Cleveland to a dynamic one against a red-hot New England Patriots team. Again, this is the preseason so let’s stay grounded in this week’s “Takeaways”.
-Matthew Stafford has yet to throw...
Receiver Calvin Johnson, hampered by a bruised knee, will miss his third straight exhibition game Thursday night when the Detroit Lions play their preseason finale in Buffalo.
Johnson has missed most of practice for the last couple weeks, too, but he did work out on the field before the game.
Other key players who wont play include running back Reggie Bush, defensive tackle Ndamukong...
(Eds: With AP Photos.) By SCOTT HELD Associated Press Calvin Johnson had an otherworldly season for the Detroit Lions. One of his fellow receivers thinks he can be even better with a little help.
Nate Burleson, who missed much of last season with a broken leg, said finding reliable second and third options for quarterback Matthew Stafford might mean an even better season for his...
In part seven of our NFL Divisional Preview series, we take a look at the NFC North. All teams are listed in the order of their projected finish.
Detroit Lions – Yep, I’m calling it. I think this is the year it all comes together for these guys. The rest of the division is banged up or going through serious changes and the Lions are the only team that I truly feel got better...
The preseason is over. Now, a couple days of anxiety as the players fighting for one of the final spots on the team wait to see which 22 get released and exactly who makes the 53-man roster heading into the opening week of the regular season.
The Detroit Lions, like all NFL teams, must make their final cuts by 6 p.m. on Saturday.
The Lions finished the preseason with a 3-1 record...
Eleven days until the Detroit Lions open the regular season at home against the Minnesota Vikings.
But first, one final exhibition - Thursday night at Buffalo.
Here are five storylines to follow:
1. The top three priorities in this game are pretty simple - Don't get injured, don't get injured, don't get injured.
Several starters who have been missing practice time...
Bummer. Remember Norwegian Kicker and YouTube sensation Harvard Rugland? OK, I don't recall the name either, but I do remember his YouTube video, Kickalicious making the rounds last winter:
I'm pretty sure that's the Dropkick Murphys playing in the background (nice "kick" choice, Harvard).
Well, unfortunately, the Detroit Lions cut Rugland on Tuesday...
Yeah, it happened almost a week ago, but for posterity sake, here's Willie Young taunting Tom Brady after a quarterback hurry:
Young was flagged and subsequently benched for this, but I freakin' love it. I'm sure that Slick Willie was telling Brady the Lions are for real, the "swag" is back, and they're coming for him. Seriously, I don't mind...
Eminem released another song from his upcoming album, The Marshall Mathers LP 2. It's called 'Berzerk' and it's bumpin' like some Billy Squier and Beastie Boys.
Have a listen below:
I took the first verse and turned it into a little bit of a Detroit Lions preview, which will be part of a larger preview I did for Kissing Suzy Kolber. That will...
