The Rap Sheet:
Over the last two seasons, the Patriots have learned they can count on CB Kyle Arrington. The former undrafted free agent has emerged as a solid performer, an every-down player who can contribute in the passing game and against the run.
His play this season earned him a big raise for 2012, and he’s still a bargain. But to understand why Arrington is so value, you gotta go inside the numbers. Look at how the team benefits more than most other teams from how he stops in the run game and in limiting yards after the catch.
Our friends at Pro Football Focus have the details.
They studied every play this season and found that Arrington missed only three tackles this season. That’s astounding. In 930 snaps, he attempted 74 tackles and missed only three of them. That puts his tackle efficiency at 24.7, fifth best in the NFL. Those yards he doesn’t allow add up… as does his seven interceptions.
All in all, that’s really solid.
