It is well known in Connecticut and at UConn that former New England Patriots tight end Aaron Hernandez, who is currently facing a murder charge, was all set to join the Huskies for the 2007 season.
Hernandez, a native of Bristol and one of the top tight ends entering college football in 2007, committed to UConn as a sophomore at Bristol Central High School, wanting to be on the receiving end of passes from his brother, UConn’s starting quarterback D.J., but he eventually changed his mind and went to the University of Florida.
And of course, as in any Florida-related story, is it a surprise that Tim Tebow was at the forefront of Hernandez’s decision to snub Randy Edsall, his brother, and the Huskies?
