Bobby Petrino Gets What He Deserves

Up until last week's car crash, most people had forgotten about how Bobby Petrino left the Atlanta Falcons unceremoniously following just 13 games with the team back in 2007. The recent revelations that Petrino was having an illicit affair with a 25-year-old assistant caused every Falcons fan (like myself) to have the same reaction... "I'm not suprised, Petrino is...

Browns not interested in Vontaze Burfict

Earlier today ESPNCleveland.com reported that the Cleveland Browns have some interest in drafting Arizona State linebacker Vontaze Burfict, who’s been quickly sliding down team’s draft boards due to character concerns and a poor showing at the combine. This evening, Mary Kay Cabot of the Cleveland Plain-Dealer cleared things up and stated that the Browns have zero interest in...

Falcons still counting on tackle Baker

At the NFL meeting, Falcons coach Mike Smith reiterated his position that he made at the NFL Scouting Combine about the team being committed to Sam Baker as the left tackle. The offensive line was hurt significantly by back and elbow injuries to Baker last season. Smith believes the unit will be stronger if Baker, who had back surgery during the season, can return healthy. Will...

Scouts Inc: Browns Need Pretty Much Everything

ESPN’s Scouts Inc has released what they consider to be the definitive list of NFL team needs for the upcoming draft and, as expected, the Cleveland Browns have quite the list. Topping the list of needs are essentially all things “offense,” spearheaded by quarterback, wide receiver, running back and right tackle. Right now, their options at QB are starter Colt McCoy and veteran...

A turning tide: the Cleveland Browns woes are changing fast

The Cleveland Browns have struggled for the better part of the past decade. From the days of Derek Anderson slinging to Braylon Edwards and Kellen Winslow, to Tim Couch doing his best to depress the people of Cleveland a bit more.  But despite slow progress on the field, the pieces seem to be falling into place at just the right time. They have their franchise bookend with Joe...

D’Qwell Jackson, Overrating Linebackers, and the 2011 Browns Defense

You didn’t need anybody to tell you that there are better ways to measure the value of a linebacker than by just counting the number of tackles that he makes, but here’s a good read from Pro Football Focus (via Red Right 88) introducing “a stat that does a far better job of giving you an idea of which players are the most impactful run defenders in the league,” called ...

HBO Interested In The Falcons For "Hard Knocks"

The Atlanta Falcons have emerged as a "strong contender" to appear on HBO's "Hard Knocks" during the 2012 training camp, Rich Cimini of ESPN New York reports. Under head coach Mike Smith and general manager Thomas Dimitroff, the Falcons have gone 43-21 over the last four seasons, winning one NFC South title and making three straight playoff appearances, including...

Are the Falcons Interesting Enough for Hard Knocks?

Earlier today, AJC beat writer D Orlando Ledbetter told us that the Falcons have emerged as the leader to be featured on the HBO series "Hard Knocks". He later updated that to say that the Falcons have an offer and are considering doing the show. Matt has already touched a bit on this on the blog but I thought I would add a little to the conversation. I've never seen...

The Browns and the Draft, a defining moment!

With the Cleveland Browns picking in the #4 spot of the up-coming Draft, provided they do not trade down, there are numerous opinions as to what the major needs of the Browns are along with who they should pick. There is a great deal of speculation being thrown about suggesting who the Browns should grab, however there are also many articles stating who the Browns should steer clear...

Have or know a child between the ages of 7-16 who would like to take part in the three-day summer football camps of budding Cleveland Browns stars Greg Little and TJ Ward? WFNY would like to help provide two readers with tuition to each respective outing, hopefully giving the next generation an experience they never forget. Here are the details: Greg LittleYouth Football Camp...

Quarterback controversy is just “Business as Usual” for the Cleveland Browns.

Does anyone remember the good old days? Back when there were years in which from one season to the next you knew who the Browns quarterback was going to be. And regardless of who the team drafted or signed, there was no doubt of who “the man” was when the season started. For the Browns those times are gone. It has become abundantly apparent that a quarterback controversy has...

Matt Ryan Joins Twitter Nation, Enjoys American Idol

So if you follow Jay Adams (@FalconsJAdams), the lovable Digital Content Manager for the Atlanta Falcons, you would have seen this tweet earlier today.   Nope. I only work on projects that can happen. RT @Syngenetic: @FalconsJAdams are you still working on getting Matt Ryan a twitter account? — Jay Adams (@FalconsJAdams) April 11, 2012   Well, it appears Matt Ryan was...

Aston Villa almost uses Browns' medics

Cleveland Browns owner Randy Lerner wanted to use the franchise's medical staff to help solve an injury crisis at his English soccer club, Aston Villa. The relegation-threatened team has been playing without top scorer Darren Bent and key defender Richard Dunne for weeks after both suffered serious injuries, while captain Stiliyan Petrov shockingly was diagnosed with acute leukemia...

Why It’s So Hard to Humble a Guy Like Bobby Petrino

I might be the only Atlanta Falcons fan on earth that still has somewhat of a soft spot for Bobby Petrino. Yes, I think his cowardly ditch of the Falcons when Michael Vick was carted off to face dogfighting charges was epically wrong. But Petrino entertains me with his slick (slimy?) ways–even his press conferences can be things to remember. You know, the kinda things that get...

2012 NFL Draft- Would the Cleveland Browns trade for Bears RB Matt Forte?

As we head into the last two weeks before the 2012 NFL Draft, rumors are flying and one team at the center of many of those rumors are the Cleveland Browns. The Browns have made little noise in free agency and despite the potential of adding some offensive playmakers, Cleveland has done precious little this offseason. Many discussions in the past weeks have centered...
