For all the derision Mark Sanchez has earned over the years, Jets owner Woody Johnson defends who he believes is the franchise quarterback and has full trust in him, expressing confidence in his players. Much to the chagrin of the unnamed player anonymously slammed incumbent Sanchez in an interview with the New York Daily News—calling him “lazy and content,” a few petulant teammates will have to end the rift in the locker room and make peace with him. Even if some of Sanchez’s teammates have concerns about him, and have a fretful attitude toward him—Johnson’s wallet apparently couldn’t pass on investing in signing the problematic quarterback to a three-year, $40.5 million extension, realizing he wasn’t the most likable man of one of the NFL’s most dysfunctional franchises. Between him and Sexy Rexy, we can’t help but laugh at the hilarious circus hijacking the New York Jets, more amused by Ryan’s goofy news conferences and Super Bowl guarantees. Look, it’s so uncertain.  There are po

But coming off the heels of their pursuit of Peyton, how does this move effect the team next season? Mark Sanchez came out of his safe house Friday with a fistful of cash and an optimistic outlook. After enduring his most trying...

Is 2012 The Make Or Break Year For Mark Sanchez?

For Mark Sanchez and the New York Jets, something has to give in 2012. After a painful end to this past season, the Jets have to move on and commit to getting back to the potential Super Bowl contender they were in prior seasons which gave hope to a long-suffering fan base. In order to give support to their much-maligned quarterback, the Jets announced that Sanchez would receive...

Sanchez's deal an insincere gesture

When the New York Jets drafted quarterback Mark Sanchez in 2009, he was supposed to be the next Joe Namath, the savior under center who would return the franchise to glory. In the three years since the team took Sanchez fifth overall, those idyllic dreams have failed to materialize, and at times -- especially recently -- Sanchez has looked more bust than boon. But the Jets and general...

Why Did Jets' Offense Crash & Burn in 2011?

What happened to the Jets' offense in 2011?   It may seem like a distant memory back in 2010 when after five weeks of football only one starting QB hadn’t throw an interception. That lone quarterback was Mark Sanchez -- you heard that right, Mark Sanchez! So how did we get to this point where the offense never took off in any phase in 2011? The running backs couldn’t break...

Top 10 reasons why the Jets signed Mark Sanchez

10) Confident that if they pay him like a top QB, he'll magically become one9) Best way to save face from the inevitable Peyton Manning rejection8) Were bidding against themselves, and the Jets have very deep pockets7) Think this is the way to really send a message to Santonio Holmes6) He was their only effective running back in the red zone last year5) Believe that paying nearly...

Rex Ryan silent on Mark Sanchez extension

With the New York Jets general manager Mike Tannenbaumannouncing that they have signed quarterback Mark Sanchez to a three-year,$40.5 million extension, there is one person who has been eerily silent on the situation:head coach Rex Ryan.Ryan was extremely critical of his starting quarterback lastseason and would surely have loved to make an upgrade at the position or atleast bring...

What Mark Sanchez Can Learn From Drew Brees

ather than spending their weekend trying to lurePeyton Manning to New York where he could ply his trade in the same home stadium stadium as his brother, the New York Jets sent a strong message of their own by extending a three-year extension, including $27 million guaranteed, to fourth-year quarterback Mark Sanchez. In the grand scheme of things, his fourth season could be a

New York Jets: Free Agency Primer 3.0

We are now only two days away from NFL free agency starting up and the picture has changed substantially for the New York Jets with the restructuring of Mark Sanchez’s contract, which freed up 6.4 million of cap space this year and dropped them out of the Peyton Manning sweepstakes. What kind of changes will this roster have in the coming weeks? Offensive Line – We knew not...

Will Mark Sanchez’s extension impact the Joe Flacco talks?

News came out late Friday night that New York Jets quarterback signed a three-year contract extension. It has $20.5 million guaranteed. How does that impact the talks for Baltimore quarterback Joe Flacco? The short answer is Flacco and his agent will want more than the Jets gave Sanchez. And they should. Flacco is a more accomplished quarterback than the Jets’ third-year player...

If I Ran The New York Jets...

1. Re-hire another offensive coordinator: Hiring Sparano as the offensive coordinator was a bad move in my opinion. I think it was more of a personality move, because Sparano is well liked around the league. However, his offenses with the Dolphins were far from great, and most times just bad. Rex Ryan clearly made this move to get back to old-fashioned ground and pound football...

New York Jets: Potential Free Agent Targets

This month I expect the New York Jets to spend considerable amount of time on the phone with Peyton. No, not Peyton Manning. Peyton Hillis. He would be the perfect pick up for the Jets this offseason. With Mark Sanchez and Shonne Greene both taking steps back this year, it's time for an upgrade. Greene has been his best working as a spilt-the-load running back.   Peyton Hillis...
