The Wayne Fontes Experience:
When Julian Peterson was inactive for the final game of the season, it seemed the writing was on the wall for the veteran linebacker. That writing is soon to be in ink, as Lions' GM Martin Mayhew announced today Peterson will be given a thank you, a hearty handshake, a pat on the back, and his walking papers.
Via Mlive's Killer Kowalski:
On linebacker Julian Peterson getting benched for the final regular season game: "I will address that. I met with Julian on Monday and we had a great meeting. I thanked him for his two years of service to the organization. Anytime you have 31 straight starts for a team, you've given a lot of blood, sweat and tears to make that happen, but I thanked him and told him we're not going to bring him back. We shook hands and parted ways. I think it's time to move on.''
Why are the Lions moving on from Peterson?
One sack and $8 million bucks.
