Matt Bryant really made a name for himself on Sunday by nailing a game-winning, 49-yard field goal to put the Falcons in the NFC Championship. It appears Bryant was already well-known in reptile circles, however. Bryant, who has been called Atlanta’s other “Matty Ice” — in addition to quarterback Matt Ryan — in the wake of Sunday’s thrilling victory, apparently has the weird ability to interact with alligators. “I was watching the National Geographic Channel one day, and heard them mimicking the mating sound that brings an alligator,” Bryant told USA Today on Thursday. “So I figured I’d try and mimic the sound. Sure enough, a baby alligator came up from a retention pond behind our Tampa home.” While that’s an interesting story Mr. Bryant has, it had to have been a coincidence, right? Well, not if the rest of the kicker’s stories hold up. In fact, Bryant’s knack for chirping with gators has earned him the nickname, “Alligator Whisperer,” and he can often be seen showing off his

Matt Ryan and his five greatest comebacks

Matt Ryan has been cool under pressure since he took over the alpha dog position for the Atlanta Falcons. The quarterback has made come-from-behind victories look easy. In just five seasons Ryan has pulled off 16 fourth-quarter comebacks and 23 game-winning drives overall. There has been a lot said about him. But what can not be stated is that he cracks in stressful situations...

The Falcons finally won their first playoff game with Matt Ryan. Did they put too much on last weeks game? Championship game preview.

The Falcons won last week but do they have anything left for San Fran? The Divisional round delivered some of the best football of the season.  Having the elite quarterbacks on the field definitely helped. This weekend we have a final four that should deliver more exciting football.  This is why the NFL is the most popular sport. I previewed the Championship games...

Matt Ryan is not elite yet.

Players View writer Adam Rosen steps up to lay down his requirements for Matt Ryan to be considered an elite quarterback. Do me a favor and don’t call Matt Ryan elite. Not just yet. Since being drafted 3rd overall in the 2008 NFL draft, Ryan has struggled in his first three postseason appearances. As a rookie in the 2008 season, Ryan and the Falcons lost at Arizona, as he failed...

Bryant keeps coming through in clutch for Falcons

When Matt Bryant is on the sideline, fully aware the game might be decided by his right leg, he'll drape a towel over his head to shut out the world. He barely pays attention to the game. He doesn't hear the crowd. A sense of calmness sweeps over him. For some reason, the towel acts ''like a force field.'' His methods work. No kicker has been more clutch...

Falcons Kicker Matt Bryant says he has Perfected the Mating Call of Alligators

This one of the more odd stories you will ever read, but I kid you not it is true. Atlanta Falcons kicker Matt Bryant is a fan of the National Geographic channel. In fact, Bryant tunes in so much that he picked up a rather odd skill that he elaborated on to reporters recently. Per USA Today: “I was watching the National Geographic Channel one day, and heard them mimicking the...

Video: Matt Ryan stars in awkward animated clip

It is a commonly-held tradition in the NFL for quarterbacks to treat their offensive lineman to a complimentary meal from time to time. After all, the big guys are responsible for making sure their signal caller is well protected.Atlanta Falcons quarterback Matt Ryan is aware of this and I guess that is why he is starring in this awkward, animated clip from Yahoo! Sports. Ryan and...

Matty Ice melts, Falcons almost blow it again

Matt Ryan, Roddy White, Michael Turner and the Atlanta Falcons know all about winning in the regular season. In fact, no team in the NFC has won more games in the last five seasons combined than the Atlanta Falcons. The problem? What do they have to show for it? It seemed as if this season would be different for the Falcons. A strong 20-0 start over the Seattle Seahawks and with...

Flacco, Ryan seek fans' respect

It's Week 5 and the Baltimore Ravens just moved into sole possession of first place in the AFC North with a 9-6 win in Kansas City. The defense played well, the running game was solid, and the victory marks the team's fourth win in five games. But the locals aren't thrilled. The national media is starting to pile on. Fantasy football owners are stressing out. Joe Flacco...
