The Falcons and Ryan finally got their first playoff win this weekend, now how can he follow it up?   The Divisional round did not disappoint,  there were some outstanding games.  The elite quarterbacks were on display and you can see why there is such a premium on quarterbacks in the NFL. This week on my radio show, Football Extra Points, I reviewed the Divisional games and previewed the Championship games. I'll give my picks later in the week but here are my quarterback rankings. 1) Tom Brady - There isn't anywhere you can put Brady but the top of this list.  He's playing at an elite level right now and is shredding defenses.  He made Shane Vereen look like a Pro Bowler.  With the running game they have in place, this given Brady the ability to run play action and keep defenses honest.  The loss of Gronk will hurt but, they are use to playing without him. 2) Matt Ryan - The Falcons finally got their first playoff win with Matt Ryan at quarterback.  Ryan looked...

Young Seahawks fan suffers epic meltdown

Young fan meltdowns are all the rage, and this one is pretty epic. The Seattle Seahawks had just completed an epic comeback to take a one point lead over the Falcons in their NFC Divisional match-up when Matt Ryan turned the tables on two big time throws to set-up Matt Bryant’s game-winning field goal from 49-yards. Let the heartbreak begin Cheer-up, kid. You still got the Mariners.

Falcons falter, then rally past Seahawks 30-28

Matt Ryan won't have to answer that question anymore. Neither will Tony Gonzalez. They're both playoff winners. Finally. Ryan got over the postseason hump in his fifth season, guiding the Atlanta Falcons to an improbable comeback in the final half-minute for a 30-28 victory over the gritty Seattle Seahawks in an NFC divisional game Sunday. If Ryan was feeling relief...

The Falcons “Rise Up” to Victory over Seahawks

The Atlanta Falcons have done something they haven’t done since the 2004 season, win a playoff game. The Falcons, led by quarterback Matt Ryan and kicker Matt Bryant, clung on to the slipping grasp of victory to get the win over the Seattle Seahawks in the NFC divisional round of playoffs. Matt Ryan threw for 250 yards, completed 24 of 35 passes, and had three touchdowns on...

Falcons Win 30-28; Head to the NFC Championship!

In a game where Atlanta once led by twenty points, Atlantans were subjected to a monumental collapse by our beloved Falcons. The offense disappeared in the second half and behind the play of Russell Wilson, Seattle fought back into the ballgame after intercepting a horrific Matt Ryan pass. After the interception, the Falcons proceeded to go three and out while Seattle kept...

Atlanta Falcons Take A Walk On The Wild Side

The Atlanta Falcons have given their fans many ups and downs this season. The Falcons, with quarterback Matt Ryan, have let the "Dirty Bird" nation down.I've been waiting for the quarterback position to lead the Falcons to the Super Bowl since Steve Bartkowski played back in the 70s and 80s. Matt Ryan hasn't proved to me that he's that guy, but today was...

NFC Championship Game: 49ers @ Falcons Preview & Prediction

It’s hard to believe that it doesn’t happen more often, but the two top seeds in the NFC did their job; they protected home field and have advanced to meet each other for the right to head to New Orleans as the NFC representative in the Super Bowl. With a dominating performance over my preseason Super Bowl pick, the Niners demolished the Packers to head to Atlanta to take on...

Falcons Survive Epic Seahawk Comeback: 5 Things We Learned

The Seattle Seahawks took on The Atlanta Falcons Sunday at The "infamous" Georgia Dome in what ended in a heart-breaker for Seahawk fans. Early on in the game the Falcons took off by taking a 20-point lead into halftime. Not long after, rookie quarterback Russell Wilson led the Seahawks with a few fantastic looking drives to start the Seattle swarm. With just 31 seconds left...

Falcons hungry for NFC title after Sunday win

FLOWERY BRANCH, Ga. (AP) -- Mike Smith provided quick evidence his attention has shifted from his first playoff win with the Atlanta Falcons. Smith was just starting his review of the Falcons' 30-28 win over Seattle in the NFC divisional playoffs Sunday when it became clear his thoughts were on this week's NFC championship game against the San Francisco 49ers. Smith...

New England, Atlanta Super Bowl is the logical prediction

It may seem a bit like dodging a pair of difficult questions, but a Patriots, Falcons Super Bowl makes too much sense to ignore. The simple justification for such a prediction is that those teams are fielding the best quarterbacks this weekend, but really, there's much more to it than that. While Tom Brady and Matt Ryan may be the best passers this weekend, their defenses...

Fan Post: No More Monkeys, No More Demons

Editor Note: the wild playoff win this weekend over the Seattle Seahawks inspired long-time Altanta Falcons fan Alex Webster to write about the great Falcons win: I have been a Falcons fan since the early 70's when my dad would take me to see them perpetually lose in the old Atlanta Fulton County baseball stadium. You had to be a long time Falcon fan watching the Falcons...

Football Nation presents its second ever playoff episode of “Monday Morning Huddle” and 30th total episode with host Dave Holcomb. This week’s podcast showcases extensive discussion from all four division matchups from the weekend. In the AFC segment,  Baltimore outlasts Denver in 2OT pulling off an amazing upset that leaves the Broncos scratching their heads and New England...

San Francisco 49ers at Atlanta Falcons: NFC Conference Championship

I’m going to do New England/Baltimore later in the week, but I had to lock this one in now because this line is ridiculous. Atlanta is 5 point home underdogs. Being a home underdog in the Conference Championship isn’t unheard of. Even being a home underdog as a #1 seed in the Conference Championship isn’t unheard of. But I can’t find a single case where a team was a home...
