Matthew Stafford is not shaken by Donovan McNabb’s recent criticism.
Stafford said this on “Mike and Mike in the Morning”:
“I understand his point of view.
I totally get that. I’m all about wins and losses as well . It didn’t happen for us last year.
“That’s something that’s obviously extremely important, especially playing the quarterback position. You get the praise when you win and all the loss on your shoulders when you lose. It’s just the name of the game.
“I totally understand Donovan’s point of view, but at the same time, I’m trying to please the Lions and my teammates and my coaches and nobody else. So people can say what they want to say, but as long as the guys in that locker room and that building believe in me, then that’s all that matters.”
The Lions could be looking at another tough year in 2013. The Vikings and Packers are coming off playoff seasons, and the Bears are have a new head coach.

Following the former Eagles QB's comments about why Matthew Stafford didn't deserve an extension, the Lions signal-caller finally addressed the criticism.
Matthew Stafford signed a contract extension with the Detroit Lions worth $76.5 million over the next five years, including $41.5 million guaranteed.
While Stafford is not the highest paid quarterback in the NFL it is a hefty commitment by the Lions in the former first overall pick.
Of course not everyone is impressed with the deal. Donovan McNabb questioned the deal on Tuesday while...
Yesterday, the Lions officially nailed down their franchise quarterback. When Stafford signed on the proverbial dotted line, he instantly became $27.5 million richer. Now the question has to be asked; is Stafford worth the money?
In short, my answer to that question is no, but as with most issues, it's not an open and shut case. Let me explain my reasoning.
After signing his new 3-year $53 million deal, opinions ranged far and wide on Detroit Lions quarterback Matthew Stafford. Stafford’s ability and talent have never been in question, but his production and team results have left a lot to be desired. He threw just 20 Touchdowns last season and is 1-23 against teams with a winning record.
So when Donovan McNabb let it be known that...
The Detroit Lions and quarterback Matthew Stafford formally agreed to a three-year contract extension worth $53 million on Wednesday. Now owed a total of $76.5 million, the 25-year-old Stafford should be a Lion through 2017. Removed from a bitterly disappointing 4-12 campaign, Detroit acquired Reggie Bush via free agency in March. An extremely diverse backfield presence, the 28-year...
Since his retirement from the NFL, former QB Donovan McNabb has been pretty vocal about current NFL quarterbacks whether it’s how they play, contracts they’ve received or if they should get a second chance which were his thoughts on former Titans/Eagles QB Vince Young.
So it would only be natural for McNabb to comment on the $41.5 million dollars in guaranteed money Matthew...
This will be my next job Juan…
Donovan McNabb was a solid pro that couldn’t quite get his team to the promised land. He second career as an analyst has become pretty much a joke. Of course he took his segment on NFL Network to rip Stafford and his new deal.
Here are the quotes:
“His footwork late in the games begins to drift a little bit, tries to throw the sidearm,...
When it comes to former NFL draft picks who are under the microscope by fans, critics, and experts, most of them are the names of Robert Griffin III, Andrew Luck, and Russelll Wilson. Those three rookies of 2012 had incredible seasons leading their team through great games and to the playoffs. There is a lot of focus and expectations on their upcoming sophomore season. But the former...
Calvin Johnson is the best receiver in the NFL today.
His elite size at 6’5 240 combined with his 4.3 40 speed create a unique combination the likes of which the league has never seen. Johnson has dominated the past couple years, culminating in his record breaking single season receiving yardage mark of 1,964.
Coming off a season like that, one might think even loftier goals are...
You can collect all the weapons at the skill positions you want, from Matthew Stafford to Calvin Johnson to Reggie Bush.
They're exciting toys, but it won't matter in the end if you don't protect the quarterback and open up lanes for the running game.
The biggest key to the Detroit Lions' season - bigger thaneven a potentiallyimproveddefense - centers on a revamped...
