Jacksonville Jaguars running back Maurice Jones-Drew has carved himself a nice National Football League career after being taken late in the second round of the 2006 NFL Draft. And the 28-year-old hasn't forgotten about the fact that 59 other players were drafted ahead of him. Some of those highly-touted players are already out of the league. These players include the likes of quarterbacks Vince Young and Matt Leinart, and running backs Laurence Maroney, Joseph Addai, and LenDale White, among others.Jones-Drew revels in the fact that he has stuck around and others haven't.“Half the guys drafted in front of me are working at Target right now,” Jones-Drew said, via Mark Long of the Associated Press.Ouch.While it's certainly a stretch to honestly say that half of the 59 players drafted before him are working at one of the largest department stores in the United States now, it is certainly true that many top prospects didn't quite pan out.Meanwhile, Jones-Drew has racked up 7,268 rushing yards and 63 touchdowns in parts of seven seasons. The UCLA product has earned three All-Pro selections and was the league's rushing champion in 2011.Via Pro Football Talk

MJD: ‘Half the guys drafted in front of me are working at Target right now’

There are different ways that athletes motivate themselves. Just the simple desire to win and be the very best they can possibly be is enough. Some looks elsewhere for inspiration. The most popular one in recent years is to feel slighted because teams NFL team’s drafted someone or several someones in front of you. Such is the case with Maurice Jones-Drew, who is still quick to...

Maurice Jones-Drew: Half The Guys Drafted Ahead Of Me Work At Target Now

Maurice Jones-Drew was one of the final players selected in the second round of the 2006 NFL Draft, and he seems to still feel some type of way about it. While talking to the Associated Press, Jones-Drew made the comment that “half guys drafted before him are all working at Target now.” Best line of @Jones_Drew32's tenure: "Half the guys drafted in front of me are working...

Justin Blackmon working his way up to speed after surgery

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. A wide-brimmed hat and black shorts don't represent the type of uniform Justin Blackmon would be wearing in an ideal situation during Jacksonville Jaguars training camp. And he would rather be on the receiving end of passes from quarterbacks Blaine Gabbert or Chad Henne than from strength and conditioning coach Tom Myslinski. But that's what the Jaguars...

Cecil Shorts’ Son Tries on Dad’s Helmet at Jaguars Training Camp, Challenges Limits of Adorableness (Photo)

Cecil Shorts III is an underdog success story, having come out of the tiny, 2,200-student University of Mount Union in Ohio as an undersized wide receiver to carve a place for himself with the Jacksonville Jaguars in the last two years. The former track star was sidelined for the end of last season with a concussion, but he is positioned to be one of the top targets this year for...

Jaguars' Blaine Gabbert returns to practice

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. (AP) -- Jacksonville Jaguars quarterback Blaine Gabbert is back at practice, two days after spraining his right ankle. Gabbert had his right ankle heavily taped Wednesday for the team's first practice in full pads. Gabbert injured his ankle late in practice Monday when guard Uche Nwaneri stepped on him during 11-on-11 drills. Tests were negative, and coach...

Coach Gus Bradley says Mincey has a "head contusion," adding that the veteran is seeing a neurologist Friday for more testing. Bradley says Mincey banged his head during drills Thursday. Mincey has started the last 40 games for Jacksonville. He has 262...

MJD – Half the guys drafted before work at ….

Maurice Jones-Drew has been in the league for a long time and he’s always excited us on and off the field. Well the Jacksonville Jaguars running back continued that yesterday with the comments he made after practice. MJD has been in the league 2006 but had to wait till late in the second round to get drafted and still holds a grudge about it. He talked about it yesterday. Best...

Jacksonville Jaguars 2013: Observations From Training Camp 8/1

With only one more day until the Jaguars hold their first scrimmage of training camp, there is plenty to be pleased with in terms of the team and the progress made by head coach Gus Bradley and his staff. But as always, there is still more improvements to be made. The hot Florida sun has been almost as relentless as the first-year head coach and his approach to the game, the team...

Jags' Gabbert injured, leaves game

Jacksonville quarterback Blaine Gabbert has left the Jaguars' preseason game against the New York Jets because of a sprained right thumb. Gabbert, competing with Chad Henne for the starting job, appeared to bang his throwing hand on one of the Jets' defensive players' helmets Saturday night. He was replaced by Henne late in the second quarter, but the Jaguars announced...

Jacksonville Jaguars 2013 Fantasy Football Projections

Because of the uncertainty of their quarterback situation, I will not project either of their quarterbacks. Neither should be drafted. RB Maurice Jones Drew (Jacksonville) MJD returns from an injury plagued season in which he played just 6 games and saw just 86 carries before going down with a foot injury. It’s possible he could bounce back this season, but he is going into his...

Jacksonville Jaguars 2013 NFL Season Preview

Introduction The Jaguars won just 2 games last season. Usually teams who are that bad bounce back at least somewhat the following season. It’s really hard to be that bad for that long. Going along with that, the Jaguars also have a pre-season over/win total of 5.5 wins and teams with an over/under win total of 6 or fewer usually see the over hit about 2/3rds of the time, largely...
