The Miami Dolphins have been major spenders in free agency this offseason, so the fact they added one of the best cornerbacks on the market comes as no surprise.Miami recently signed Brent Grimes to a one-year, $5.5 million dollar deal, which includes $3 million in guaranteed money. This a tremendous addition after the Dolphins lost their two starting cornerbacks the past two years. They traded Vontae Davis to the Colts before last season began and Sean Smith signed as a free agent with the Chiefs earlier this year. The secondary, once a strength now has some holes to fill.Grimes should be able to do just that. While he lacks the size and press coverage skills that Smith and Davis both possessed, Grimes excels in zone coverage and is a ball-hawk. Before tearing his Achilles last year he had posted 12 interceptions in three seasons. Smith, Miami's most recently departed corner, had four total the past two seasons. If healthy, Grimes should be the starter from Week 1. The normal recovery from an Achilles tear is around six to eight months and the month of April marks month seven. He should be more than ready to go by the time OTAs roll around - much less training camp.I like what the Dolphins have done this off season. They signed speedster Mike Wallace and even though he is known for inconsistency at times - he will still make plenty of big plays. They also signed Dustin Keller. Both of these players should improve the receiving corps tremendously and help Ryan Tannehill evolve. They lost left tackle Jake Long, but rumor has it they may go after Eric Winston. While Winston isn't an upgrade over Long, hell, I don't think he's even as good - that would still fill a major hole. These moves solidified the roster, now if Tannehill can improve his game in 2013 we may see this team in the playoffs.
