There has been a ton of talk about the future of Michael Vick, not just in Philadelphia but in general. After a disastrous 2012 season that ended with his head coach getting fired it was expected that he would be following ole Andy Reid out the door.
As it turns out that is not going to be the case.
Vick was set to make a pretty penny in 2013. Since he was still on the roster after February 6 he was due a $3 million roster bonus, but under his old contract he was set to make $15.5 million next season. For a guy that became the poster child for self destructive last season that was a little too much.
He had to restructure his deal. There was no other choice for Vick. With the season he had last year there would not have been too many teams eager to sign him for more than league minimum.
Since Chip Kelly took over the Eagles there really is no better spot for Vick as a player. If there is any coach that can get the old, electrifying Vick to reemerge it will be Kelly.
