Blaine Gabbert’s second season as the Jaguars’ quarterback came to an abrupt end Wednesday, leaving his future as a starter in Jacksonville up in the air. In a surprise move, Gabbert was placed on the injured reserve list with what he called a “fairly significant’’ forearm injury. Gabbert’s injury means that Chad Henne, who was named the starting quarterback by coach Mike Mularkey on Monday after he passed for 354 yards and four touchdowns in Houston Sunday, will play the last six games and have a chance to go into next season as the starter. When Mularkey was asked if Henne can nail down the starting job in these final six games, he said, “I would say when the season was over with, I could probably say yes based on finishing the year that way.’’ Source: Florida Times Union Attached Thumbnails

Which Chad Henne will the Jaguars get?

Chad Henne was named the starter in Jacksonville this week, after Blaine Gabbert injured his shoulder again as well as a contusion on his throwing elbow. Henne had a great performance after he came in, throwing for 354 yards and four touchdowns. By...

Jacksonville Jaguars quarterback Blaine Gabbert’s season is over. The team placed the second year player on injured reserve following a forearm and shoulder injury that occurred in a game against Houston on Nov. 19. Chad Henne, who took over following the injury, will quarterback the team for the rest of the season. Henne finished the game with 354 yards passing to go with four...

Blaine Gabberts season comes to an end

The Jacksonville Jaguars have placed quarterback Blaine Gabbert on season ending IR.  Gabbert left Sunday’s game in the first quarter with what was stated as an elbow contusion. Gabbert’s replacement, Chad Henne, provided a spark for the Jaguars who eventually fell to the Houston Texans 43-37 in overtime and fell to 1-9 for the season.  Henne’s performance may have sealed...

Backup quarterbacks are useful in evaluating young guns

This weekend, the Houston Texans nearly dropped a game to one of the worst teams in the NFL. It was an offensive shootout with little defense to speak of from either team, and the Texans emerged from overtime with the victory. The other story line that came from the Texans near-miss was the possible end of the Blaine Gabbert era in Jacksonville. After leaving the game early with...

Jaguars place Gabbert, Robinson on IR

Chad Henne replaced him and threw for 354 yards and four touchdowns. Gabbert also has a torn labrum in his left shoulder that needs surgery. The Jaguars (1-9) figured it would be better...

Week 12 Pass Defense: Hanging with Chad

No more bye weeks!  This is great news for everyone whose team isn’t riddled with injuries.  QBs seem to be dropping like flies with concussions and other assortments of injuries, but for some teams (Jacksonville, I’m looking at you), that’s not necessarily a bad thing. Seriously, if you predicted Chad Henne could come into a game against The Texans and throw 4 TDs for 350...

Jacksonville Jaguars: Week 12 NFL Power Rankings (#32)

Last week: 32 (+0) Record: 1-9 It’s still neck and neck for them and the Chiefs. I don’t know if it really matters. They both suck. I think it will take one team winning to show any separation between them and I don’t see that happening. Gabbert has been put on IR with elbow and forearm problems, but it really just seems like a convenient way for Mike Mularkey to get Chad Henne...

The With Leather Fantasy Football Support Group: Pick Your Poison For Week 11

My favorite part of this past fantasy football Sunday was a Tweet from ESPN’s resident guy who points out the obvious, Darren Rovell, about Jacksonville Jaguars QB Chad Henne only being owned in .5% of ESPN fantasy leagues. Well, no sh*t, Sherlock. If you were in my league and you had Henne on your bench, you’d either have to be the biggest Jags homer on the planet or every QB...

Kansas City Chiefs: Week 12 NFL Power Rankings (#31)

Last week: 31 (+0) Record: 1-9 I used to think the Chiefs were better than the Jaguars, but I don’t really think there’s any difference between the two now that Brady Quinn is going to be the Chiefs’ starting quarterback; in fact, the Jaguars might even be better if Chad Henne can establish himself as clearly better than Gabbert (he had a great game last week, but he’s known...

Always Be Covering: I Miss Thanksgiving

“Oh great, it’s the day after Thanksgiving.” -No sane person, ever. Yesterday: 1-2 Last Week: 2-2 Overall: 34-32-1 Oh god, 364 days until we get to do that again? Bullsh*t. I’m making stuffing once a week and nobody can stop me except for the obesity the crippling obesity that’s surely coming. /wheezes So as far as I remember… Houston had to go to overtime, RGIII completely...
