Miami Dolphins center Mike Pouncey is not following in his twin brother's footsteps, at least as of yet, in apologizing for wearing a "Free Hernandez" hat at a nightclub in Miami last week. Mike and his brother Maurkice were photographed wearing the hats in support of their college teammate Aaron Hernandez, who as we know is currently being held on a murder charge.
Brother Maurkice of the Pittsburgh Steelers came out immediatley with an apology, but so far Mike hasn't bothered. Now we know seemingly which is the stubborn one out of the two.
"I'm here to talk about football," Pouncey said after the Dolphins' first training camp practice, via Armando Salguero of The Miami Herald. When asked when he plans to address the hat issue, Pouncey replied: "Once we get through football."
Perhaps the Steelers organization ordered Maurkice to apologize immediately, and the Dolphins took a different approach. Head coach Joe Philbin wouldn't confirm if the team has pushed Pouncey for an apology. "Any conversation I may or may not have had with Mike will stay internal," Philbin said. "I will tell you that it's important for every member of this organization -- player, coach -- to represent the Miami Dolphins in a first-class manner."
Mike Pouncey: "I'm here to talk about football." Asked when he'd address wearing cap that read "Free Hernandez," Pouncey: "After football."
