Mike Shanahan is a quarterback guru; he’s coached with the 49ers during their great run in the 80’s and early 90’s. He’s been around Joe Montana, Steve Young, and later in Denver John Elway. He’s seen the evolution from the pocket passer to the mobile quarterback, and now the newest craze the option passer. Shanahan installed the ‘Pistol’ offense to take advantage of Robert Griffin III athletic ability and gave him familiar concept he ran at Baylor last year. However, Shanahan is stopping there gushing over RG3, he’s telling anyone within earshot that the NFL hasn’t seen a talent like RG3, ever. During his Thursday press conference Shanahan heaped praise on his young signal caller. “I don’t think anybody in the history of the league has played at his level,” Shanahan said. “At least over the last 40 years, when I take a look at the numbers and what he has done, I don’t think anybody has played at his level. As we’ve talked about before, he’s got a unique skill set.
