Pittsburgh-steelers-new
“Watch out, nimbostratus clouds!” A year before he left the Steelers via free agency, Mike Wallace publicly expressed a desire to get Larry Fitzgerald type money in his next contract. While his new five-year, $60 million contract with the Dolphins is a nice payday, it doesn’t come close to the eight-year, $120 million contract extension that Fitty got in 2011. Still, one would figure getting as much as possible was foremost in the mind of Mike Wallace. Apparently not, as it appears Wallace turned down more money from the Vikings, which he refused because he was tired of living in cold weather. The winter winds of Pittsburgh have stung his lungs — and every other part of his body, for that matter – the past few years. Sultry Miami was never far from his mind. So when cold-weather teams like the Vikings made a pitch for 2013’s hot-shot free agent, they barely had a chance. It was time to go south, where he could breathe – figuratively, and a bit literally. “The [Vikings] had come to the point where they were telling him, ‘You don’t have to live here, just be here during the season,’ ” Wallace’s father, Mike Jr., said by phone this week. “He wanted to get out of that snow and cold weather.” I don’t know if it’s a wise move to express a distaste for being in cold weather. That’s bound to get a receiver labeled soft. Better off just saying he hates white people. I do love the Vikings saying, “you only have to suffer the agony of being in Minnesota SOME of the year.” Oh well, they still got the consolation prize of Greg Jennings, who might be three years older than Mike Wallace, but seems quite eager to spend the entirety of his NFL career in the frigid Upper Midwest. Oh, and new uniforms! Exciting! The post Mike Wallace Really Hates Snow appeared first on Kissing Suzy Kolber.
