San Francisco 49ers: Takeaways from Niners vs Broncos

The Denver Broncos beat the San Francisco 49ers 10-6 on the strength of Shaun Phillips’ fumble return for touchdown.  In their inagaural preseason game, both quarterbacks only played one series each and the game was all about strong defense and at times, inept offense.  The 49ers committed four turnovers while the Broncos only managed 220 total yards of offense.  Granted it’s...

Colin Kaepernick: Mental Part Of My Game Is ‘Underestimated’

Colin Kaepernick took the NFL by storm last season after taking over for Alex Smith, and doesn’t appear to be easing up anytime sooner. Kaepernick brings the dynamic of speed, strength, a strong-arm, and excitement to the quarterback position.  Kaepernick told the Sporting News that his most important dynamic, “his mental approach to the game, is underestimated.” “I think...

Kaepernick Poses On GQ Cover, Bro Writer Disapproves

Colin Kaepernick is on the cover of September’s GQ, which by itself is not an altogether noteworthy occurrence. Nor is the fact that he appears on the cover shirtless and showing off his tattoos, which have been a bit of a thing over the past calendar year. But those facts won’t get in the way of a Fox Sports bro in search of HOT SPORTS TAKE. Do you even take, bro? Let’s all...

49ers defense eager to face Chiefs QB Alex Smith

SANTA CLARA, Calif. (AP) Over all those years and thousands of practice snaps, the stingy San Francisco defense never got to put a hit on Alex Smith. And this is a group known for its vicious blows, from sack man Aldon Smith at linebacker to pounding safety Donte Whitner. So, no surprise Smith's former teammates on the opposite side of the ball will be salivating to finally...

Pitino on Chris Jones: As good a guard as I've coached

Rick Pitino has coached some pretty good guards during his nearly 40-year career in college basketball.  Recently at Louisville, there was Russ Smith, the two-time All-American, and Peyton Siva, the point guard who led the Cardinals to a national championship in 2013. He had a host of talented players at Kentucky, too, the school with which he won it all in 1998.  A player currently...
